Default Experts question GOP prosecutor’s memo on Christine Blasey Ford

    Excerpts from the article.

“A ‘he said, she said’ case is incredibly difficult to prove. But this case is even weaker than that,” Rachel Mitchell, a Republican sex-crimes prosecutor from Arizona, wrote Sunday in a five-page memo, highlighting what she described as inconsistencies in Ford’s account and a lack of corroboration from potential witnesses.

...Though Senate Republicans said the memo was helpful, legal experts from both political parties and advocates for victims of sexual assault on Monday questioned how Mitchell could reach such a conclusion without a fuller investigation and without the ability to cross-examine witnesses such as Mark Judge, the only other person Ford says was in the room when the incident occurred in the summer of 1982...

...The memo does not address Kavanaugh’s testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee, including discrepancies between his statements and those of his college roommates who have disputed his characterization of drinking habits. When Kavanaugh testified last week, Mitchell had been questioning him for only about 10 minutes when she was sidelined by Republican senators.

Linda Fairstein, a former sex-crimes prosecutor in Manhattan and a Democrat, said that Mitchell seemed to misrepresent matters in referring twice to her “independent assessment” and once to her “independent review.”

“There is nothing independent about her opinion,” Fairstein said. “She is a hired gun giving an opinion for the side that hired her.”

Senate Democrats released a detailed rebuttal of Mitchell’s memo, arguing that Mitchell cherry-picked information to undermine Ford and omitted other information that bolstered Ford’s credibility. In response to Mitchell’s argument that no reasonable prosecutor would pursue Ford’s claims, the rebuttal said: “The question before the Senate is to determine whether Brett Kavanaugh has the suitability and trustworthiness of an individual nominated to serve for a lifetime appointment on the Supreme Court. Last Thursday’s hearing was not a trial.”

    LOL
Dems wanted a female prosecutor and it backfired on them. She didn't parrot their agenda, now she's no good.
    Doesn't get richer than this.

Abortion rights dogma can obscure human reason & harden the human heart so much that the same person who feels
empathy for animal suffering can lack compassion for unborn children who experience lethal violence and excruciating
    pain in abortion.

Can you link up to that comment about Dems? This wasn't a trial and nobody was a prosecutor. Mitchell was hired by repubs and gave them exactly what they wanted and paid for.

Mitchell is a prosecutor. Dems screeched about a bunch of white men who would bully her, so without objection they welcomed a female questioner.

Pretty funny, let me help you out, Dems wanted that "bunch of white men" to question Ford, it was the GOP who hired the women to avoid what they even feared, insensitive to women's concerns

What was her background? Insensitivity to women's concerns?

Don't get it both ways, creep: either he had a presumption of innocence or he didn't, which the GOP was yelling about; and the GOP pulled her quickly from the floor because she was not giving them what they wanted.

They were in a rock and a hard place. They wanted men so they scream about them being bullies to a woman.
When Pubs offered a woman........it became a dohhhhhhhhh moment and they knew they played that hand incorrectly.
How would they have looked if they were NOT in favor of a softer approach?

Huh? I'm not trying to have it both ways. Mitchell was paid by the GOP and they're happy with her Ford comments but not with her limited Kavanaugh comments.

Are you saying Dems had a choice on which person the repubs would pick to question Ford?

Snatch is having a field day along with her Toxic friend, bashing the crap out of Dr. Ford. Got to wonder what's wrong with "women" like that, eh?

I don't know why they think that Mitchell's summary has any meaning. They bought and paid for her services; she delivered. Kind of odd that grown men would need someone to intervene and explain to them if someone's lying or truthful; at their ages, you'd think they'd be able to figure that out on their own. They sure cut her off in a hurry when Bart O'Boof started up, didn't they? Wonder why that was? lol

They "offered" a woman? Grassley asked her.
