Iowa cut off it's nose to spite it's face.
Republicans in control of Iowa government cut off Planned Parenthood as a way to end abortion.
That also cut off a lot of low income people from family planning services, which resulted in a lot of unintended pregnancies.
Teen pregnancies are UP!
It is unclear how more mouths for the poor to feed is a good solution for Republicans.
Don't they understand that poor people tend to vote Democrat?
Don't they understand that if you have more poor people, that it places a greater burden on taxpayers who foot the bill for government assistance programs of the social safety net?
And poor people who have been cut off from government contraceptive programs tend to procreate faster.
When Iowa refused to fund Planned Parenthood, it also turned down millions in federal funding.
It is unclear how the State will fund family planning programs without government assistance.
Most people in Iowa think the Republicans goofed. 71% favor reversing it.

Question: What's The Conservative Counterpart To Planned Parenthood?
Life.
Abortion rights dogma can obscure human reason & harden the human heart so much that the same person who feels
empathy for animal suffering can lack compassion for unborn children who experience lethal violence and excruciating
pain in abortion.
Unborn animals are protected in their nesting places, humans are not. To abort something is to end something
which has begun. To abort life is to end it.

Do more poor people vote Democratic? If you believe what folks here say most republicans are poor and uneducated and vote against their economic interests.

Planned Parenthood is not a government organization.Question: What's The Conservative Counterpart To Planned Parenthood? Planned Poverty?
To the contrary, because surgical pregnancy termination comprises a very small part of total PP services, Republicans have sought to end government $contributions.
It is politically conservative to favor private sector vs public sector services, etc.
So the question as worded:
reflects an inaccurate world-view.Question: What's The Conservative Counterpart To Planned Parenthood? Planned Poverty?
"It should be obvious to anyone why conservatives and libertarians should be against Trump. He has no grounding in belief. No core philosophy. No morals. No loyalty. No curiosity. No empathy and no understanding. He demands personal loyalty and not loyalty to the nation. His only core belief is in his own superiority to everyone else. His only want is exercise more and more personal power." smb / purveyor of fact 18/03/18
Hello sear,
Interesting point. That didn't occur to me. We've had a system in place for a non-government program to perform this needed service to society, but because a small part of it is objectionable to them, that has been ended. The problem is it has not been replaced with anything else, and the people who rely upon it can't afford to go get luxury health care. So we end up with more poor people depending on government assistance and tax payer dollars. And voting Democratic.
Well, of course it's a loaded question! Thread titles with a bit of provocative edge get more activity. Dull thread titles tend to scroll off and get no comments.
But it's not too far from the truth.
Without family planning, we do get more unintended births, and most of the increase occurs among the impoverished who cannot afford luxury health care.
I use that term because it can cost as much as housing.

Actually, capitalism favors everyone. It is the only system that creates wealth.
When pioneers wandered into the western half of the United States, there was no Los Angles, no Las Vegas, no Seattle, no Portland, no Salt Lake City, no Denver. There was just indians (some hostile, some friendly), a lot of open land and natural resources, and NOTHING ELSE.
These people settled, and built their towns and cities up themselves. They did it by creating wealth out of the natural resources around them. They formed their own town councils out of the towns they themselves built. They formed their own governments AFTER they built the towns up to start needing them.
Today, we have these cities standing that these people started from nothing...all from creating wealth. Capitalism IS the open market. It most quickly responds to the wants and desires of that market since those providing services and products know their own market better than anybody else. It naturally filters out those who lose that expertise in the marketplace.
Socialism can only exist by stealing the wealth of others and redistributing it. It can only exist by force. It is the only system that steals the wealth from those producing it and concentrates it among the 'elite'. It is the only system trying to maintain a 'top'.
It comes in two forms: communism and fascism. Under communism, the government owns the wealth and the means to produce it outright. It does not know how to run a factory, or handle a market. It has no experience in a particular market, and there is no profit motive, and there is no reason to try to compete. It has no expertise in the market. I cannot respond to the wants and desires of that market.
The other form, and far more insidious and popular, is fascism. Under this form of socialism, you get to keep your property and factory, but you are told how to run it. In other words, you take all the risk for starting and building the business, then the government comes to run it for you by force. You still take the risk of loss. Beyond that, the problems with dealing with market wants and desires is the same for that form of socialism as with communism.
Far from concentrating 'wealth at the top' in capitalism, any little company can come along and completely blow the guy 'at the top' right out of the water. A case in point is Microsoft, made up of some aggressive owners and few dozen equally aggressive technologists, blew IBM and it's huge share in the computer market right out of the water. IBM is reduced to a 'me too' PC manufacturer now, and their mainframes are being used less and less, to be replaced with PC's even in the server market.
The trouble with being the Top Gun is that there is always some little guy willing to come along and shoot your kneecaps off. It happened to IBM, to AT&T, to Hewlett-Packard, to Edison Electric, to the horse ranching industry, to the U.S. automotive industry.
The free market is immortal. You can't kill it. It will always be there, even when driven underground. It operates solely by price discovery. Prices are not set arbitrarily, as they are in various price control schemes (that never work). It IS the marketplace.
So much for the 'capitalism concentrates wealth at the top' argument.

Cages, we can just put them in cages. When they get a bit older was can lease them out as laborers to corporations. Plenty of precedent, we'll just combine a couple of aspects of programs already up and running. Some of the public may talk, but the american people will never actually get up and leave the house to do anything about it.

All human pregnancies should require the approval of a federal licensing board comprised of genetics experts and metal health experts.
A sterilizing agent should be added to all city and town water supplies and all functioning wells.
If a couple is granted a license to procreate, they will temporarily be given antidote medication for the sterilization agent.
Nobody gets to have more than one kid, regardless of qualifications.
Otherwise, everybody get laid to your heart's content.
Just watch out for STDs, and make sure that you're all consenting adults.
Unwanted pregnancies won't be a problem.
But most importantly, Trumpanzees and other deficient applicants will be denied licenses.
We're looking at a vastly improved country, now.
