Default Beto O'Rourke denies fleeing scene of 1998 DUI crash, contradicting police

“I did not try to leave the scene of the accident, though driving drunk, which I did, is a terrible mistake for which there is no excuse or justification or defense,” O’Rourke said. “I can only tell you that I was able to have a second chance in my life.”

But O’Rourke’s comments appear to contradict the police reports published by the Houston Chronicle last month that claimed O’Rourke “attempted to leave the scene” after he lost control of his car and hit another vehicle in 1998.

Well, who are you going to believe? The politician who crashed his car while under the influence? Or the police report?

The Democrats have been praying to Satan for a new Ted Kennedy - now they have him.

How is this like Ted Kennedy? He is handsome like Bobby. He has admitted his mistake. This is a pathetic attempt to smear the man.

Democrats don't like it when their criminal past catches up with them.

To me this just shows how desperate Lyin' Ted Cruz is.

I need to send the Beto campaign some money, and this thread is a good reminder!

democrats do believe in second chances.............for democrats. alcee hastings, for example. but be a republican and not only do you not deserve a second chance, but you should be buried under the jail.

    yay democrats...............
A sad commentary on we, as a people, and our viewpoint of our freedom can be summed up like this. We have liberals and conservatives, Democrats and Republicans, yet those very people look at Constitutionalists as radical and extreme.................so those liberals and conservatives, Democrats and Republicans must believe that the constitution is radical and extreme.

He admitted to the DUI. Leaving the scene is a moot point. He suffered the consequences and hasn’t repeated the act. This is a pathetic attempt to smear a good man.

He isn't going to win. His poll numbers are driven by Hispanics who won't show up on election day despite telling pollsters they definitely are showing up on election day. As for his DUI, hummmmmm deciding who is telling the truth between a drunk too drunk to even speak recalling his drunkeness 20 years later or a Texas law enforcement official is like a no-win situation for logic or intuition.

the claim is was presented by a witness of the accident.

bettos car ended up facing ongoing traffic

maybe he felt he needed to move his car and the witness misunderstood what he was doing?

    WHO is the witness?

    lets talk to them

It seems he was not charged with an attempt to leave the scene
