    And here's Woodie Guthrie:

Personal Ignore Policy PIP: I like civil discourse. I will give you all the respect in the world if you respect me. Mouth off to me, or express overt racism, you will be PERMANENTLY Ignore Listed. Zero tolerance. No exceptions. I'll never read a word you write, even if quoted by another, nor respond to you, nor participate in your threads. ... Ignore the shallow. Cherish the thoughtful. Long Live Civil Discourse, Mutual Respect, and Good Debate! ps: Feel free to adopt my PIP. It works well.

    A day devoted to peace.

    What a great concept.

    Peace on Earth.

The United Nations adopted this day 70 years ago. This is the 70th anniversary of Peace Day! I urge you to do something in the interest of peace today. Join all of us who cherish peace. Do something to make the world more peaceful today. You'll be glad you did!

No thread ban for this one, so please post in the spirit of peace. Show us a little love.

Don't you love being a human?

    Isn't humanity wonderful?

Say you love humanity. Admit it. It's OK. Anybody who makes fun of you for that is WARPED. And it doesn't matter. They are powerless as long as you believe in yourself. If you are on the side of love, you are on the correct side. You are on the side of humanity.

    Enjoy!

I hope today is wonderful for you. And peaceful.

With love for you and all of humanity, from PoliTalker...
There are dozens of armed conflicts going on right now. Nice try though. Peace is impossible among humans. Conflict is our nature. It's a part of us that we can never get rid of. As long as there are people there will be war.

    Sorry,

    No war mongering allowed today.

There is no reason to justify or accept war.

We must always strive for peace.

"Tell people that war is an evil, and they will laugh; for who does not know it? Tell them that patriotism is an evil, and most of them will agree, but with a reservation. "Yes," they will say, "wrong patriotism is an evil; but there is another kind, the kind we hold. What this real, good patriotism consists in, we are never told; or, if anything is said about it, instead of explanation we get declamatory, inflated phrases, or, finally, some other conception is substituted for patriotism – something which has nothing in common with the patriotism we all know, and from the results of which we all suffer so severely."
    -- Lev Tolstoy

    Hello Cypress,

    Interesting.

It is surprising that he would say most people agree patriotism is evil.

    What's wrong with patriotism?

Because to Tolstoy, most people were using the word "patriotism" as a substitute for nationalism.

There is no question that someone who writes a book like "War and Peace" is a Russian patriot, loyal to his nation in the defense of his countrymen in the face of invasion and aggression.

Tolstoy was in general a pacifist and a humanist. Especially later in life. I think he was hanging out with a lot of like minded people who probably shared his opinion to one degree or another.

    Ahh, now it makes sense.

    Thank you.

So cool to learn things like that. Never read Tolstoy.

Yes. Nationalism is a negative energy. It detracts from having a great nation. Nationalism is win/lose philosophy.

We want win/win deals. Always win/win. It's got to be win/win, or there is something wrong with it.
