Probably because 1) it would look bad, 2) it would definitely piss off all the southern Bubba base who just wuv Sessions, and 3) make that obstruction of justice thing look even more plausible, given all the times he's blustered about Sessions recusing himself.

I'm thick as thieves with the bubbas and outside of Alabama I can assure you they don't even know Sessions exists. Trump is more savvy than he gets credit for so I'd lean towards options 1 and 3.

Say what you will about Trump, and outside of his SC picks I don't have a lot to defend him on, but he's either wise enough, or actually listening to his advisors not to fuck with Sessions.
