Port a potties are typically used on a temporary basis for events or on construction sites.

Reason being is because they start to stink after a few days—especially in the heat of summer. Though it’s way better than allowing people to shit on the sidewalks.

The ones we have are bigger than your regular port a potties and I think for the exact reason you mention.

Composting toilets were invented decades ago.
They don't smell, they don't need emptying daily and are sufficiently inexpensive.
They are approved for use in the great state of Massachusetts, so clearly the work and the resultant compost is clean enough for vegatable gardens.
