I'm sure you do but what I cited was the school tax portion of my property taxes.

Who's paying the freight, Cap'n? According to the OP citation, there's already a $150 million shortfall.

Estimated cost already is $600 million, Bigdog, and so far just $450 million has been raised. Who's going to cover the difference?

According to the article they are raising monies to do this. The founder of Home Depot donated 100 mill alone.

I am bothered by it because I strongly suspect that taxpayers will be left holding the bag again, as they have been with many wonderful-sounding "free" programs.

Agreed. But that money's got to come from somewhere, so we'll need to start from the point below. It's 5 years later, and it's long overdue:

Free speech is cool as long as it jibes with our program.

And there's still a projected $150 million deficit, Cap'n. Who's going to make that up? The article doesn't say, but is that an annualized cost of $600 million for one school?

It's in the Duchy of Double-Standard, where Christiecrite is the lady of the manor.

Nothing is "free." "Free" public education is already sucking up taxes and producing dismal results.

If liberals want to pay for med school out of their own pockets with non-deductible donations, they can.

The sleight-of-hand trick here is that the billionaires who "generously" fund this scheme are getting a tax break, which transfers the burden of paying for government services to everyone else.

End charitable deductions and you'll see how "generous" people really are.

I am assuming they are going to try and reach their entire goal by donations. I have no answer for your second question.
