Military parades are fodder for tinpot dictators and insecure nations. Albert Speer developed the art to showcase Nazi power and overwhelm the people into believing how great their military was. It was also to elevate Hitler, as the military marches by and salutes the leader. It is mostly weak nations that do that. But it is effective in helping a leader look strong. Trump knows TV. He knows how to play the people. He knew the parade would be a boost to him and that is why he would spend a hundred million on it.
