I know, it's tough when one of your idols is killed. Sorry for your loss.

An impressive shot for sure. I presume we all understand that.
My meager counterpoint was that a difficult shot may be made even more difficult with equipment not optimized for the task.
I've never fired either .50 cal.
But if I had to use one or the other as a sniper rifle, on a target ten times the size at half the distance, I'd prefer the bolt. But that may simply be personal preference.
And in fact when I hunt I use bolt action. I've never needed a 2nd shot.

Perhaps the sgt. prefers the tripod on the machine gun, to a bipod on the single shot.
Don't know. I never met the man.

    No.
    Not "a" point, but several.
If English isn't your native tongue, perhaps your mother can translate it into pig-latin for you.
"Did you even read the article?" cb #15
    No.
    I even didn't.
Instead I demonstrated my enduring faith in the topic author, that the essential elements of the topic are included in the lead.

However, if you believe there's some essential detail I've missed, you're welcome to post it, to help correct my ostensible ignorance.

What the hell is your obsession with the distance British snipers kill people at?

I'm a scientist. Critical thinking is what we do.

    - I did not read the article.

    - I read the lead post, where it is clearly stated: The sergeant killed the Islamic State commander with a .50 Calibre machine gun

I have only a tenuous interest.
But in my limited U.S. military experience generations ago, I never heard of a military sniper using a machine gun. I understand: SAS.

    That's fine.
I thought it unusual. Is it not?
What is the quantification? The ratio between military snipers using .50 cal using bolt vs machine?
So basically, you read what your cognitive ability allowed you and then it just ignored the part where it said:

Do you know who he was replaced with, seeing as how you're some how connected; because that way they'll know who to look for now??

    Indeed.
There's an NHL player, I think his name is Marchand. While many NHL's resort to fisticuffs, when another player tries to tussle with Machand he's been known to lick them, not with fist,
    but with tongue.
I guess I'm not quite man enough for that. But I suppose it is an option.

If you want to "lick men" with your tongue, that's totally up to you and them.

"So basically, you read what your cognitive ability allowed you" U9 #21
If by this you mean I understood all I read, then yes, apparently so.
"and then it just ignored the part where it said:" U9 #21
    "It"?
    HM is an "it"?
HM is the one the system credits for authoring:

Thanks for asking U9, but no.
    a) Various posting members have mentioned various details. I mentioned "machine gun". In what way does that constitute "over"-analysis?

    b) I generally prefer to step over ad hom as I would a fresh, steaming turd. The topic is: "SAS sniper 'kills ISIS commander from nearly 1.5 MILES away' in Afghanistan"
Lay opinion of my analytical skills doesn't interest me.

    c) I seriously doubt HM has either the training, or the competence for a viable assessment of me, or my skills.

And we're back to that steamer thing I mentioned a few sentences earlier.
