Default Black Americans are asserting their rights in “white spaces.”

    And that infuriates some crackas

Well the porch honkeys better get used to giving up their supremacy

What is driving the surge of incidents in which white people have called the police to report black people who are simply going about their business — hanging out at Starbucks, eating lunch in a “common room” at Smith College, barbecuing in a public park?

Part of the answer has to do with the ubiquity of cell phones and social media, which allow news of racist incidents (which have always existed) to spread quickly.

Yet there is also a sociological explanation. Many white people have not adjusted to the idea that black people now appear more often in places of privilege, power, and prestige — or just places where they were historically unwelcome.

I dunno. I lived for 55 years in one of America's most racist places -- St. Louis and environs. I recall seeing groups of black people and groups of white people avoiding each other in public places like the Zoo, Forest Park, Six Flags, etc. when I was much younger. In later years people have just mingled, stayed with their own family groups, but there wasn't that avoidance thing seen in the 70s and 80s. Also there are more and more interracial family groups... and less angry glares their direction.

Familiarity doesn't breed contempt. It promotes acceptance and bonds. This isn't to say that racism is dead; it most certainly is not.

Rather interesting that a couple of these incidents have happened in Oakland which is the most diverse City in the country. If you're in Oakland you run into people from all walks of life.

And from a demographics perspective Hispanics have already passed black people in population and Asians are the fastest growing demographic

I've noticed some people have moved out of 'diversity' centers like St. Louis to a more ethno-friendly WASP environment like the Upper Peninsula.

Quite the observation! Unfortunately for your slimy personal attack there, Jackoff, I am working towards a bachelors in Native American Studies at NMU (just ask Angry Bird about that -- he started a thread dedicated to bashing my scholarship) and am involved in the native community here. NMU instructors include ppl from around the planet, and so does the student body. We also have an amazingly strong community of LGBTQ folks. And lest we forget.... a strong community of immigrants from Finland, Estonia, and eastern Europe. My hospice patient guy is from Estonia and speaks four languages fluently. He's trying to teach me Estonian, I'm trying to teach him some Anishinaabemowin (Ojibwe).

But yeah... racist derp mumbles blatteries derps.

The Age of Trump has aggravated race issues.
Making white racist feel they have one of their own in the Oval Office!

Interesting how OwlWoman talks about mingling with other groups and building familiarity chooses to live in a location that ranges from 94 - 97% white depending on where you live.

You confuse trying to explain the truth to an inferior person with worrying.
