I wasn't bullied, but I did get pushed around and taken advantage of a little by the guys who were the bullies. I always considered myself fortunate not to be a victim, since I was vulnerable to it, and wished pain and suffering upon the bullies. Its something I have always been sensitive to, so the fact that my dad has one high school episode of bullying a kid in the weight room I was a little disappointed.
 
Bullied big time. I grew up in a poor neighborhood a couple houses away on each side of families with 6 boys each. 10 of the 12 were older than me. One family had a bunch of boxers and one had a bunch of kids winding up in juvy.
 
My sister was bullied horribly.

I hope we'll hear from former bullies here. I always wondered if the scum who made her life hell in elementary school have any remorse.

bullied in grade school, 5th grade by two assholes...then i grew a few inches and kicked both their ass the next year and one of them i was merciless too in junior high as he stopped growing.

Was never bullied. The only two fights I was ever in I thumped the heads of a couple of bullies....one was bullying me and one was bullying a friend of mine.
 
I was usually the diplomat, but still got pushed around a bit in Jr. High. Shittiest three years of my pre-adult life...

Am I the only male in the world who has never been in a fight in his life? I was so skinny up through high school there was no way I was going to kick anyone's *ss but still I have no idea how I didn't manage to get into any fights. I've been close on numerous occassions and either talked my way out of it or used diplomacy to avoid anything happening but I still find it hard to believe.

I have only been in three... two because I was a bouncer in college and was breaking up fights. The third hit my sister.
 
I was always small for my age so I was a natural target. When I was about 10 my father taught me what an equalizer was and how to get mean. After that some asshole, on occasion would bully me. It rarely happened a second time. I got may ass kicked royally a couple of times standing up to bullies and I knee capped the Captain of our Football team with a baseball bat (God my father was proud of me! LOL). After the knee capping incident I was never bullied again. About 6 months after that I had my growth spurt.

The funny thing about bullies is that the guys who are real bad asses were never bullies. They knew they could kick ass and were self confident about that fact and so they don't feel they have something to prove. It's the guys who THOUGHT they were bad asses who were the bullies, particularly the ones raised by single mothers. They tended to have a chip on their shoulders and were out to prove they were bad asses.

You're exactly right it is often the wanna-be's that try and act the toughest or talk the most. REAL tough guys don't have to pretend and don't have to run their mouth.
