the flag represents an illegal rebellion, i.e., they lost - deal with it

now you are getting into first amendment issues

please note that the swastika is not banned in the u s of a

the flag should be banned not because of what a group of people feel, but because it represents a rebellion...that lost

as for religious symbols, scotus has ruled where and when they are allowed

what a group of people feels about a particular symbol is irrelevant except in a legal situation where a lawsuit results in rules for or against it

Ergo: Until there is a ban, people should just keep their opinions about the flag, to exactly that; opinions about the flag.
Unless you want to campaign to have the majority flags of the Native American Tribes banned also, seeing as how they too represent rebellions that lost!

i did not say that

i said that such is governed by scotus and that lawsuits will determine said symbols future, also, there is action at the state level as to what shall be displayed at local government locations

native american flags may be displayed on reservation as they are separate entities from the federal government and have their own governments (up to a point)

my sympathy is with them, my father was born on a reservation and what this nation has done to the native americans is criminal

however, having said that, if the flags are flags of rebellion then they must be treated as such

the government cannot allow itself to be challenged successfully - otherwise we will have another civil war

So you would not allow the Native American flags to be shown anywhere, except on the Rez; because they represent rebellion against the United States?

it would depend on whether the tribe was still in a state of rebellion or another treaty was in place

when people display confederate flags and say the south will rise again, i consider that an act of rebellion

the principal difference between the native americans and the south is that the south waged and lost a civil war with the united states of america

the u s of a tended to be the aggressor and treaty violator in conflicts between the u s of a and the native americans that the native americans lost along with their land

what are you searching for in the way of a response

Are you trying to say that they South is still in a stage of rebellion, just because of a slogan that has nothing to do wih secession; because there are still some branches of certain Native American tribes that feel like they're still at war with the US?

maybe the south should not have lost, but they did

interesting problem, when a war is fought, usually one side or the loses and has to deal with the consequences
