I wonder if you read the article you cited.

Sullivan said he would get more specific in a closed-door session with members of the Homeland Security Committee.

Yeah, I did. The sentences before that one were the really important ones. You know, the one he directly states that the amount of threats are no different than for the previous two Presidents and expresses amazement at people who believed that exaggerated report.

The ones you wanted to believe?

The ones you wanted to believe?

Right, because he clearly wouldn't be expert on that subject...

This is like speaking with a flat-earther. It doesn't matter that the dude who actually knows and can compare says that it just isn't true, you want to believe so badly that it really doesn't matter to you that your evidence was flat refuted.

And another story that relates to that book, which the Director of the Secret Service flat told the people at the hearing dealing with this "worry" (yeah the story was about the hearing that was coming up) that it wasn't true.

Come on, man. You need to just stop once you have been decisively shown to be believing in exaggerated nonsense. This is getting extremely humorous.

I have her on ignore, I don't read her links.

In a later hearing before the committee on homeland security, after people started believing that claim from the book (that he had 400% more threats than Bush), the Director of the Secret Service flat said that it was untrue, and that he received no more numerous claims than the last two Presidents did.

So, basically, the man who would know simply told the Congresswoman with the concern over this that it was based on an exaggeration that he was astounded by and couldn't understand why people were believing...

In case you haven't noticed, Bush is not the subject of this thread.

You wondered how many rightwingers wanted to kill Obama, and I replied that it was probably no more than the number of leftwingers that called for Bush's assasination. You then made several posts challenging me to provide evidence, and then dismissed my evidence by saying it could have been photoshopped.

You could have ignored my comment about the calls by leftwingers for Bush to be assasinated, but you chose to pursue it. You helped take the topic in that direction.

These discussions flow in whatever way the posters take them.

Next week, the movie John Carter of Mars opens up and GAWD I hope some of the posters on this board DO NOT go to see it; because they're going to believe it's true, seeing as how there's been a book written about it. :palm:

Wow, this guy had balls....

He went to the White House site to post it, and also threatened school kids? Idiot.

definitely a fool, but also likely mentally ill

however, whether a fool or mentally ill or both, left, right or center, not a good person to let roam around

oh well

When I was 17, I found the notion that posting a obviously joking presidential threat would immediately draw the ire of social security laughable, and so I posted an extremely formal one (I'm never going to repost the words, but it was not like KingRaw's demented rants), punctuated by an expression of attraction to his daughters. I even posted that it was a joke in the thread. And, a few months later, lo and behold, the social security actually came to my house, and read the whole thing aloud to my father. I, of course, started crying, much like the pathetic pussy I am. After a few minutes of discussing things with me they soon realized that I was not the typical kind of suspect, being of a pacifist bent, and the lady actually gave my dad her card and told him to call her should anyone ever bring this up again.

Oh well.

LOL I am so so so so happy this is out now. One of the hardest things I ever had to keep tight lipped about.

<3

gotta love the fact that we are probably on some secret service watch list now and probably everything we have ever said is logged.

Welp, goodnight everybody!

So, basically, Damocles and ID believe what government officials say?
