Why does debt mater?

Answer me this. Why does debt really mater? It maters to the creditors that is for sure. But lets say that we had one global economy. Basically one global government and everything was nationalized, and that gov had the power to make money. What would stop it from giving a raise to people or paying people to retire at 45? Debt? Who cares about debt. They can keep creating more money. Though why does debt really mater? Because the rich want to continue living off the backs of the people.

When the rich need more money they just make it up and charge it to the tax payer.

Other notes:

The source of your dollars is nothing but fake IOU's................It has no real value. It isn't backed by anything(contrary to the US constitution).

On your level it may seem that the money is worth something though in the bigger scheme of things. It is actually not.

The only reason it is valuable is because people have been taught to think it is valuable. Just like the kings used to have sticks with notches in it and shells that represented wealth(when they ran out of real wealth) and they were recognized as wealth, even though they are worthless things.

Basically the global economy is controlled by European bankers/elites, that can make money at will(out of thin air) and if wanted to can buy the entire planet. That is why 2% of the worlds population owns over half of the world's entire wealth and their wealth grows rapidly.
 
It's an illusion because the money is actually? WORTHLESS! Though we pay interest and payments on worthless money.

Therefore we are trading for goods with worthless money. As long as we believe the money is worth something, it is. But in reality. It is not.

And we are paying taxes to support worthless money.
 
what is stopping Canada from building a 100 Trillion dollar deficit? We'd have the best military, education, scientists, ect....There would be no limit to what we can acheive.

Who cares if our money becomes worthless outside the country. Canada is a self sufficiant country. We dont need any imports.

Ask the soviets about a country whose currency is worthless outside it's borders, or ask Weimar Germany(you know the country that hitler took over).

"wiseone" already had this conversation, they don't absorb information. I spoke about the Weimar Republic and gave other examples of what happens with extreme debt and when the money is devalued. This person just can't learn. It's a repeating subject with no resolution. It's like arguing that the earth is shaped like a ball to somebody who believes it is flat. No matter what evidence you bring it just won't matter to them, they just believe whatever they want.

Yeah, but... Why does debt really mater? Really? This is the caliber of debate we have to look forward to? First of all? The wiemer republic was not self sufficient. They depended on trade and foreign investment. The Soviet Union did not depend on trade. There is no real reason that the USSR should have went under. Though some say western banks financed the Bolshevik movement. Therefore a big chunk of their manufacturing income went to their investors. After the wars they were no longer able to pay their investors and the economy collapsed. Had they had endless money like I am suggesting? The country would never be out of work, and there is no way you can have recessions.

The way it stands today? The elites live off the backs of the tax payers, via payroll tax. We pay trillions of dollars in interest and inflation. Since the actual money never had any true value? The interest is not justifiable. Therefore the debt should not be honored.

OK then Damocles! Give it your best shot. Dont use the weimer republic because Canada is much more self sufficient. Explain why Canada cannot build a 100 trillion dollar deficit! But I know you cant!

Less criticism and more substance people. Explain to me why Canada cannot rack up a 100 trillion dollar deficit. Heck I can do it in less then a year!lol

Just go back and read the "Greenback" thread of yours. One definition of insanity is to do the same thing repeatedly, but continue to expect different results. I am not insane and fully understand the beginning, middle and end of this "conversation".

I think you may have even titled it the same.

Yawn. I remember that debate. That was an entirely different debate. I though the greenback was backed by GOLD! I didn't know it was fiat money! Rather then get into a debate about greenbacks and how the Union made worthless paper money to pay for the war and their soldiers? Lets stick to the discussion.

Why couldn't Canada rack up a 100 trillion dollar deficit? Well your argument is that then their currency wouldn't be worth crap. Who cares? Canada does not need to import anything. People need our exports more. Therefore if they want our exports and we want some imports? We trade resources. Why pay cash? Southern poor countries will give us agricultural produce and we give them resources. Heck many poor countries would want to join our country!

The main reason is that the loonie is not the worlds reserve currency; once you grossly devalue your loonies, no other country will accept them.
Canada doesn't even make cars, good luck.

Who cares if no country accepts our looney? We are a self sustaining nation. How about if we dont accept your over valued currency? If you wanted our resources you would have to bartor no?

So....Canada imports nothing...That's funny. You can keep your Canadien resources too, they have been driving prices down here for too long already.
