I didn't realize that suggesting that "merit" is often very subjective was a controversial thing to say, let alone a product of union indoctrination. Wow.

Join a union. Then bring it up. See what the response is. I did. I heard the response of the teamsters (granted this was in 1993... so I leave open it could be different today). They espoused the same type of crap that Mutt did. The whole 'they will just change the bar on you, you have no control, blah blah blah'

So are you saying that "merit" is not subjective? I'm just trying to understand your point here. Other than hating on unions, of course. I get that part.

Are you saying you are too stupid to follow the discussion? My point is that he is an idiot to suggest that merit pay is 'bullshit' and that 'only the good old boys get paid' blah blah blah.

a lot of times union pay scale is bullshit... there is no perfect system. Both CAN be abused. Both CAN be good. Both CAN be bad.

The point is that he is pretending it is ALWAYS that way. That is complete bullshit. The point is that he is 100% wrong to suggest that you give up negotiating powers if you are in a merit pay system.

ah yes, the old 'the white guys don't get it'... I think the above is probably more of your localized experience. Because I can certainly see it in NY and the north east in general. You have a lot of old money and a very ingrained old boys network there. Plus an over abundance of assholes.

moment of clarification, I believe he said he would open up 75% of natural gas deposits......as for Republicans being fucked, no......the response will be, "Fantastic! Why didn't you do what we asked three years sooner? What has changed that makes it a good idea now and a bad idea when people were sitting around unemployed for three years?"......

Sorry you're feeling poor. Migraines suck to say the least. My father treated a lot of patients over the years who suffered from migraines. Got a lot of results too.

Like I stated, you are using the fact that you are unsuccessful and pretending that means merit pay doesn't work. It does. If you are working for a firm that changes the bar, then you are a fucking idiot for staying there. I have worked for merit pay and when I hit the goals set forth at the beginning of the year, I got the pay increase I was promised. When I didn't hit the goals, I usually got a percentage of the pay bump based on how much of the goals I hit. THAT is the way it works in the real world.



so in other words, you negotiated your pay based on your merit. If they didn't live up to their end, you would go somewhere else based on your merit. But you don't believe in merit pay. Like I stated, you are a fucking retard.
