Then why the suspensions....???

According to Connor Carroll, a senior at Riverhead (N.Y.) High on the North Fork of Long Island, the Riverhead administration handed out one-day suspensions to four student athletes after a group of Riverhead students decided to spontaneously hold a group Tebowing session in the school.
 
Move to the side, stage the same thing without restricting the movement of others, no suspensions.

This isn't that huge of a deal.
 
This incident seems to have just been the latest reason for insubordination by a few kids, brothers, twins, who got their friends to go along:

...Connor Carroll said in a telephone interview on Friday afternoon that he and his friends — nearly 40 took part in the last of three demonstrations on Wednesday — merely wanted to pay tribute to Tebow as a "role model, leader and winner."

He conceded that although kneeling for Tebow has a religious connotation, their intent was simply to honor a sports hero.

Riverhead School Superintendent Nancy Carney said in a statement that the students' actions created a potential safety hazard.

"I think it's wonderful that our students look up to sports heroes such as Mr. Tebow, but we can't allow students to create unsafe situations in school," Carney said in a statement. "Students cannot block hallways and prevent other students from getting to class."

She said the Carroll brothers, who play on the Riverhead football and baseball teams, were disciplined because of prior warnings about disruptions in the hallway. Connor Carroll said that he and his brother and others had been creating "human walls" in the hallways about six weeks ago and conceded they were told to stop, but argued that the "Tebowing" tribute was different.

School administrators did not see it that way...

The school only has about 1200 students, when 40 of them choose to block the hallways, likely to create the problem the administration cites.

I have never understood the Christians who have to make a big show about praying. Does anyone remember the parable of the rich man and the poor man praying?
 
Poor Tim Tebow. If he had a ring in his nose, tattoos on his face and neck along with a couple felonies, he'd be a role model.

It's the same reason that OWS protestors were arrested- blocking the freedom of others. Yet, I seem, to recall liberal outrage over those arrests?

They aren't praying, they're parodying Tebow.
 
I wonder if the mocking and ridicule of Tebow would be the same if he were Muslim? If students mocked a Muslim Tebow, would they have been suspended? Or would they have more likely, won a guest appearance on The View and Good Morning America? The same morons who openly bash on Tebow, would be showing silent reverence for his religious beliefs, if he were Muslim. Anyone who complained or whined about Tebowing, would be considered a racist hater akin to Hitler. But since he is a CHRISTIAN it's different, it always is.
