You need to expand your musical world. There is a lot of great country music. If you have Sirius, listen to "Outlaw Country".

Man, can you buy into the cliches (like w/ NJ). That is certainly not all country music.

There is a ton of great country stuff out there. I only just discovered Emmylou Harris, but I'm kind of obsessed right now. It was like, "how did I miss this?"

I have been a fan of hers from day one back in the early 70s with Gram Parsons. Have you checked him out? That's where she started.

Yeah...it takes a real knowledgeable music critic to actually call "rap or hip/hop" music.....filthy, demeaning, hatful poetry maybe, but not music by any stretch.

Yeah; I knew more about him before I started getting into Emmylou. I knew that she had sung with him, but had no idea how good her own body of work was....

Oh yeah. If you like Dylan, she sings with him on Dylan's "Desire". Check out Buddy Miller, Chris Hillman, Lucinda Williams, Gillian Welch, Patty Griffin, Jim Lauderdale......

I wouldn't put a label on "The Bands" music. It's pretty obvious that they took inspiration from country music, R&B, Jazz, Rock and Folk Music. The only classification I would put "The Band" in is "Damned good".

It's a shame today that musicians don't get the opportunity and time to develop their craft through the three R's of music (writing, rehearsing and recording) and touring. That's how masters of the craft like "The Band" and "The Eagles" developed.

Love the last Waltz. It's my favorite concert video. I piss off my wife when it comes on Palladium and I do as instructed....turn it up load. lol

Spoken like a true Neanderthal. There is good and bad in all : Classical, Blues, Jazz, Rock, etc....even Country. You want to only give credence to the lowest common denominator: sex. That's pure Neanderthal. Goddamn skippy, narrow-minded.

It is not buying into them. I cannot stand most country music, therefore I mock it based on the worst it has to offer.

I actually like parts of New Jersey, but stating such tends to detract from the mocking of it... therefore I do not tend to mention the parts I like.

You're just mad I mentioned the hot women and not the hot men. Don't be grumpy about it.

That said, there is good country... but it is a rarity in my opinion. I recognize the fact that many people like that god awful swill. Many don't like Rap/hip hop/metal... yet I do... to each their own. That said, I shall continue to mock country till the day I die... oh crap, that could be the title of a country 'hit'. It sounds about whiny enough.

What a stupid bitch. I love hot women as much as the next man. I just don't have sex with them. And I don't think with my pee pee.
Now you hit on something. I hate rap and hip hop....and I'm black. Can't stand it. In my opinion, that really isn't music. It doesn't require any musical acumen. All it requires is a store bought "beat"......and those are a dime a dozen. Brainless "music", to be sure.
