I went two years before my funds dried up, and I joined the workforce...a college-level position, with only 2 years under my belt. Quite a feat. Wound up being quite in-demand. What's your point?

I ran out of funds too man, but I worked two years to pay bills then went back and graduated cum laude. Your career does not require a college degree. I have a career that can only be accessed through a degree, an 8-hour comprehensive exam, followed by several years of apprenticeship, certification of character, and finally a second 8-hour exam to prove what I learned after college. Plus I have to have two days accredited training annually.

So don't give me shit that you're better educated than me.

I became certified and was working toward my registry. That aside, personal experience and practical application accounts for more than classroom lectures. Besides, I was under the auspices of perhaps the most renown and competent pulmonologist in the world...Dr. Paul M. Stevens, who worked up close and personal with Dr. Michael E. DeBakey and Dr. Antonio Gotto. Look them up.

My career requires a 4 year education; 137 credits in an ABET accredited program. Then an 8-hour exam proctored by the State. Then four to eight years' personal experience and practical application. Then prove it with an application to the State board. Then pass a second 8-hour exam proctored by the state to prove your post-graduate knowledge. Then annual training to keep up with technology.

Face it. A straight white man, married to the same woman for 25 years, a fiscal and social conservative, is more sophisticated, better educated, has a more challenging and better paying career, is more "well-rounded" then you. Conservatives outnumber liberals in the US two to one, so I win on the "acceptance" argument as well. :)

  • Your exam- you didn't specify which- is probably a two-hour deal. Mine was 16 hours. Eight fucking times more rigorous than yours.
  • Language, music? I'll best that with athleticism, photography, gardening, carpentry, electrical, plumbing and automotive repair.
  • Sewing? I'm sure you're a terrific seamstress. I can repair stuff if necessary and that's about it. I'm sure you're a snazzy dresser too.
  • Cooking? I cook most of the meals for my family. Last night I made grilled salmon with grilled asparagus, onions and carrots on my gas Weber and cast-iron ware. My new Lodge grill pan works great. Very little oil, few spices, and high heat. Tonight is grilled chicken breast and stir-fried eggplant. I marinate the fresh eggplant with balsamic, white wine, basil and garlic for about 15 minutes before frying in a tablespoon of peanut oil in my stainless Calphalon wok.

    Really? So do I. Stir-fry, Asian, Cajun, and Italian dishes are my specialty. Also some Polish cuisine. I learned baking from my mother, who, if she had gone into commercial baking, would have made our family as affluent as the Kennedys.
