Yet, if it wasn't for China the US would be in an infinitely worse mess than it currently is. You say you don't care what the world thinks but I'm sure you will care if the dollar ceases to be the world's reserve currency.

I don't give a flying fuck what China does and we sure don't have to worry about the currency of GB or the Euro becoming the world's anything, except for a laughing stock.
If we falter and fall, we will pick yourselves up and come back stronger then we were before.
You really should be concentrating on the bigger possibility that Europe is going to swirl down the drain.
How about you concentrate on your own failing system and we'll worry about ours; but that just might mean that we won't be propping up any more of Europes ass backward attempts that have failed.

Hello? He didn't keep the US safe. Now, in support of my statement I said the torturing of detainees did not help (pictures from Abu Ghraib, Guantanamo Bay) AND the attack on the Trade Center. BOTH, as in TWO examples.

As for supporting the Police who is to say communities would not cut back on hiring if funds were low or cut back on needed equipment? Or do you think communities would just cut back on teachers and their Fire Departments?

This is 2011 not 1911, you really need to learn more about economics; it's not your strong suit. The collapse of the Euro, which thankfully the UK is not a part of, will have profound consequences which will be felt worldwide not just in Europe. Bravado and bluster may well work where you live, but it cuts very little ice on the world markets.

Which no doubt would have given the police a reason to eject them. I was listening to an American law professor on the radio earlier, he said that in the US it is perfectly legal to tell a suspect that his fingerprints are on something even if they are not. In the UK, that is illegal and would cause a case to be thrown out if revealed in court. So no wonder that they don't trust the police, who would?

to live your life solely for self preservation is the beginning of the end of society. here, the harm that they won't get to protest at a certain location or that the bad cops might harm them (which if they could get on tape would further their cause) is outweighed by letting an alleged rapist go free.

You are taking the NY Post article at face value, I wouldn't believe anything at face value in a Murdoch tabloid for a start. You are calling it rape when even the article said it was sexual assault which could cover a multitude of sins.
