The audience applauding had no such vested interest. They were applauding the execution of nameless individuals, like witch burnings and lynchings of olde. It wasn't personal, and there is something macabre and wrong with that.

One thing that you seem to be overlooking, is that Christians tend to hunt down, prosecute, and punish those who commit such acts in their name.
How many times can you show where Muslims have done the same for those committing acts in the name of Islam?

Excellent point. Islam has done a very good job in the USA of ignoring the violence perpetrated by their brothers while playing the victim of religious persection. The left has fallen for that con game hook, line, and sinker.
