Obama suggests taxing by the mile

That's obviously the point. Create more government jobs, more folks to vote for the party that got them there. Not to mention the potential for abuse of the system, to track you wherever you go.

Yeah I took it as sarcasm. I don't think Nigel is so far to the left as to want the government to be able to track every single movement you make in a vehicle.

try this: Your GPS locations will be stored evey 10 seconds or so and kept in a data file that automatically sends your usage file to the feds.

Apple will introduce the units and they'll be called iDrive

Yeah, I don't think it's necessary for the government to track every single movement you make in your vehicle (the government doesn't need to know if you're picking boogers), just where you are at all times.
