California Teachers Union Draws Fire for Rallying Behind Cop Killer Mumia Abu-Jamala

I never said he was innocent. But a reasonable thinking person would come to the conclusion that something doesn't add up here. People from all over the world don't just protest the conviction of a person convicted of murder unless there is good reason to protest.

bfgrn....this is a logical fallacy...why is it you can't do your own research and decide for yourself? people all over the world smoke hash, crack etc....does that mean it must be good because people all over the world do it? tookie in california had supporters too....but after decades he was repeatedly found guilty...the evidence was overwhelming....

what is hypocritical on your part, is that i've seen you convict others, whites, conservatives based on less evidence. but, because your liberal friends "all over" believe this guy is innocent, you are readly to blindly throw in your support with your liberal buddies without doing any of your own research. read up on the case....

Why not? Who cares? If it detracted from their attention to other matters, maybe I could see it, but unions have long been political actors on more than just issues affecting the particular industry of their members, including social justice matters.

Why not?... Because it is a political matter having nothing whatsoever to do with education in California. Who cares? ... I would if I were a member of that union. In fact I would care so much that I would withdraw my membership. Seriously, if unions just paid attentionto and took care of what they were designed for I wouldn't be against them so much.

In OK, teachers can be members of OEA (Oklahoma Educator's Association) if they want some sort of protection, but to be a member of OEA one has to be a member of NEA (National Education Association). I refuse because I disagree so much with the NEA politically. I choose to pay for private legal insurance and to be a member of a lesser, less political group, POE (Proffessional Oklahoma Educators). The latter group pays attention to proposed legislative changes to education and stays out of other areas of politics.

They don't? How do you know? The reputation of the US as a racist nation, oppressor of blacks, and the nation with one of the highest % of incarcerated persons gets protested all the time.

You don't get to decide what a union is for, Crawfish. Its members get to decide.

You're panties look awfully twisted.

fibberfish....i am entitle to an opinion, stop whining about it....i knew you would feel people have their panties in a bunch....you get so pissy when your opinion is not agreed to. you hate being wrong, so anyone who doesn't agree with you, must have their panties in a bunch. if you don't want to see people discussing an issue they are perfectly entitled to discuss, feel free to not read the thread....we don't need your whining....

so true....nigel felt free to discuss the union situation in michigan, but he is not a union member there, nor would he be affected by the law

more intellectual dishonesty from nigel

Of course, I am entitled to my opinion that your panties are twisted. If you don't want to read what I have to say put me on ignore or don't respond to my comments. It's not too difficult, Crawfish.

Yeah, that's coherent.

Jesus Christ in a cathouse!

what part did you not understand? it was very clear. you are crying that people shouldn't have an opinion about the union making the statement because we don't belong to the union. yet, you have no problem making your opinion heard about the michigan union issue, despite not belonging to a union in michigan effected by the law. nor do you reside in michigan.

if you can't understand the above, you are truly an idiot or you just refuse to see the truth and your own intellectual dishonesty.

oh, poor fibberfish is getting upset and pissy....

somebody hand him a pacifier quick!

nigel is entitle to his opinion, but how dare anyone else voice theirs!!! mommy it's not fair!!!!

You see Yurt, you just want to explain all the protestors, books and HBO documentary all about this one case as people who are not as smart as you. If you are wrong, a human life is destroyed. Are you THAT sure all these people are wrong Yurt?

What matters to me is that justice is properly served. If the guy is guilty, he should pay his debt to society. It sounds to me like the guy didn't get a fair trial. If he didn't get a fair trial, are you OK with that Yurt?

How's about you quote me as saying that (or crying about) people shouldn't have an opinion on the matter as opposed to expressing my opinion that it ain't nobody business what the union speaks out about and reaffirming the fact that unions often speak out on matters of social justice having little to do with the occupation of their members.

Once you do that we can talk about the rest of your jackassery.

I'm talking bout you mr I play a lawyer on the internet. Just chase the slow ambulances you moron.

LOL...and you spent all morning claiming you weren't calling me a lawyer, you only "joking"....

what a pathetic waste....seriously, you should stop obsessing over what i do for a profession...i don't claim to be a lawyer, nor do i play one, i'm a meter maid....you however, play act that you graduated college

right there and your other posts clearly show you believe we shouldn't be telling the unions what to do....this is what you do all the time....you know exactly what you said, but you're going to play this wussy semantics game of "exact" words....for example....

poster A: why did you call me a shithead

nigel: i didn't, i called you a poopoohead, now go cite where i called you a shithead....

i have no other jackassery....and my, my, our little nigel is angry today....calm down...

:)

and once again...more logical fallacy, and now appeal to authority....why do you want to claim they are smarter than me? see...your problem is, you want to believe your sources are smarter, but if someone disagrees with your liberal sources, then its them who believing they are smarter. not the case....i've read up on the case, and the facts are overwhelming.

as to the fair trial....he took it all the way to scotus....and lost. do you know why? and can you stop having other people tell you what to think and do your own research. i would be interested in YOUR opinion once you've read up on the case. is that too difficult? you always demand others read your links....yet here....you refuse to read anything about this case and instead rely on what others say.

You could have just acknowledged that I never said that people are not entitled to their opinion, but that would be the honest thing to do. And we all know how you and honesty get along.
