... all because the Democrats think a 1% spending cut is "draconian."

Unbelievable.

Even $60 billion is far too small a number. We should be cutting $600 billion.

uncle sam isn't listening. way more can be cut from the federal budget, if only they'd listen to their superiors (that would be we the people) and shrink the size of their government, i.e. start firing people and getting rid of alphabet agencies.

And our economy will shut down, which will lead to the world economy will shut down.

Don't all you people on any intelligence realize that draconian cuts will mean lay offs which will crash this already fragile economy?

Good grief, let just cut everything and set us all back to the stone age! :palm:

Get rid of the USA as we know it, too. Cuts mean jobs, hasn't anyone figured that out, yet?

Let see, a person loses his job, he can't buy groceries, pay his utilities, buy gas, pay his mortgage, go to the movies, go out to eat, use his internet, etc, the list goes on...and the beat goes on!

Then how would you justify ever trimming government?

You don't do it to the extent that the GOP is willing to do at this time when the economy is so fragile.

They talk about creating jobs, what they don't talk about is when you cut spending, you cut jobs.

If they would be more honest about it. They keep saying they are cutting to grow the economy, that is just a LIE! and the dumb asses fall for it.

They will have to raise taxes at some point, a reality they refuse to face! Cuts won't do it all, can't do it all.

Rana,

With all due respect, by that logic why doesn't the government provide jobs for everyone?

The fact of the matter is, current federal spending levels are unsustainable. If we do not make serious cuts now, we will be forced to in the future, and I can assure you the cuts will be even more painful than they are now (although personally, I think even $60b is a pathetic cut).

Cuts can easily do it. It is just a matter of what the political will is. And saying we need to cut spending to stabalize the long term outlook of our economy is not a lie. It is a lie to think we can go on spending like we are without economic ramifications.

actually, you're being dishonest by claiming ONLY the government can create jobs....you're saying that we can't cut the government, because if we do, jobs will be lost....using this logic, why not tax everyone at 90% and have us a work for the governmetn and have prices frozen at government approved levels...

thats you what you want

That's only true for Keynesians. For reality, it doesn't really matter if the economy is healthy or not.

I have a suggestion, could he use that on himself? Knock some sense into him?

You want to see the economy crash! What a great place this will be for you to live! Do you like Bananas?

We can't make cuts like that without economic ramifications, either! We are one of the richest countries on the planet and the budget fix would be easy with the right amount of taxes and the right amount of cuts. You can not balance the budget on the backs of the old, the children and the poor!

I am safe, I will get my SS, I am starting to think like a Libertarian and a Republican, I got mine, fuck the rest of you.

No, cuts alone can not do it. Everone admits that. Except you. Try some other source than Rush for a while.

it's economics kindergarden to suggest the economy could not withstand cutting the outragious gov spending. thanks it was funny

Thanks for you feedback troll. Once again you can't actually follow what I'm saying but that we wouldn't expect that from a troll now would we. As you were.
