A fetus is composed of human material just as a liver or kidney is composed of human material although none are human beings.
Ah... now we get to the ignorance of the pro-abortionists. A fetus is not the same as the liver or kidney. A fetus contains the COMPLETE genetic code of an ENTIRELY UNIQUE human life. The liver will always be just a liver, the heart a heart, the kidney a kidney.
The fetus is a STAGE in human development. A kidney is not, nor is a liver.
The stupidity of your above argument is quite astounding.... yet typical of a pro-abortionist.
There is no justification to kill an innocent human being. That is the point.
Yet you support abortions....
The vast majority of problem pregnancies are due to the woman's faulty body. It goes against everything our society stands for to permit the killing of an innocent human being so either the woman is compelled to bring the fetus to term or a fetus is not a human being and she is permitted to abort.
That is why I stated in the case of rape... it is two morally wrong choices that are left as options.
In the case of a woman's life.... her life carries no less weight than the life of the child. But if one of the two can be saved should the other perish, then who is to decide? It has to be the mother that makes that call.
I agree it must be the woman's choice because a fetus is not a human being. By what logic can one say it's OK to kill an innocent human being due to the actions of another? Or the mental state of another?
Again, it is indisputable that the child is human and alive. It is a human life. You calling the child by a STAGE of development doesn't change that fact. That is like running around pretending that if you call a child a 'toddler' that somehow dehumanizes the child. It does not.
The reason we're confronted with situations like rape or problem pregnancies and the resulting moral and ethical dilemmas is because we're trying to classify something that is not a human being as a human being.
Which again is complete bullshit. Your pretending it is not a human life doesn't change the fact that it is. Others in history have used similar arguments to justify their taking of innocent lives. they were just as wrong as you are.
Either a fetus is a human being
Again, it is. No matter how many times you try to spin this.
and nothing short of the mother's certain death justifies the death of the fetus
Which is kind of the point.
and even then it's absurd to kill a healthy, innocent human being so a defective one may live
So a 'defective one' may live? It is absurdity to claim that the fetus is defective.
Classifying a fetus as a human being and according it the sanctity we bestow on human beings while, at the same time, weighing it's value compared to how it came into existence or the extent of damage a woman with an already faulty body may acquire makes a complete mockery of the entire concept.
The above is just rambling incoherent nonsense.
