Obama shows the world how and when American military power should be used!

I can't believe Europe isn't committing mass suicide right now out of shame. Everyone has been talking about the use of US military force as a means to disable the enemy as a threat, so that the European militaries can go in without getting hurt too badly. LOLZ, what a bunch of fucking pussies!!! :yay:

Libya; at this particular moment, we were faced with the prospect of violence on a horrific scale.

We have intervened to stop a massacre

obama admits the war/action was in fact preemptive....i wonder if the morons who've claimed it was not preemptive will change their view now that the CIC admitted it was preemptive

Preemptive according to what? According to the idea that Libya hadn't attacked us or Europe? Yeah, but we have little reason to believe that said event would happen anyways, so we didn't preempt that.

his words are right there in the quote...here they are again:

that is from the speech he just made....he states we intervened to prevent a massacre....thats preemption, not for us, but still is preemptive military force

Strictly speaking he only stopped the continued mass violence. He didn't preempt it, unless you mean he preempted its continuation.

I know this is mostly all hair splitting. But trying to paint it differently than what it actually is, in my mind, goes and destroys all the good that can come from these actions.

he said it clear as day...."we were faced with the prospect of violence on a horrific scale"....thats why we went in....that is preemptive. i don't see it as hair splitting at all. there was some violence, but we didn't go in based on that, we went in to prevent a massacre, violence on a horrific scale. i'm not sure why you think that is hair splitting. i seriously doubt if he believed the fighting would be over quickly, we would have gone in. he leaves no doubt that our goal was to preempt a massacre.

Soooooo desperate for this to be "just like Iraq".....

The amazing contrast between this and Iraq is great, I'm loving it. It's not that force should never be used, but that there is a way to do it and a way not to do it!!!

desperate for this to be "just like Iraq"?

The only one that thinks that is you pinhead....this is nothing like Iraq...Saddam had already killed 100,000+ of his own citizens long before Bush was elected .....

This "preemptive" crap is akin to Obamas claim he 'saved' a million jobs....its his overactive imagination.

The hair splitting comment was more in regards to what you and I are doing.

Please explain 3 differences between Iraq and Libya. Also, keep in mind Libya is a DIRECT RESULT of our actions in Iraq.

Apparently, the "way to do it" is to bypass the US Congress completely, and under no circumstances, call it a "war!"

Apparently, all is okay as long as France says it's okay in the UN and nothing is okay without their approval.
