I heard that one American consumes as much as 55 south Asians. (BBC maybe?)

Now, all you budding mathematicians, how many Americans should we sacrifice to save a million poor Indians?

Sacrifices only work if the sacrificial "lamb" is cooperative or can be forced to cooperate.

We Americans, as has been pointed out many times, are an uncooperative lot.

Uhhh what about the other half of the equation. That one American produces as much as 75 south Asians?

For example. The average American farmer, by himself, can produce several thousand times more food then an entire family of Indians. Oh.....and couldn't the Indians save themselves by producing more and doing so more efficiently?

And isn't it also a fact that though the average American is the largest consumer in the world that they are also the most productive people, per capita, in the world and a net exporter meaning they produce more then they consume?
 
Moot stole my thunder here. LowIQ's base assumption is that there is a fixed volume of goods to be consumed, and that by Peter purchasing two widgets it robs Paul of the opportunity to buy one.

Just think of how many hamburger stands they could build in India, if they would just take the inative and take advantage of what they have available.

Do you wish to impose American standards upon Indians? Already many farmers are in thrall to the GM seed and pesticide producers of America. Their biodiversity is under threat and has, in many places, been destroyed completely which means local grown, natural medicines (often seen as weeds by the west) are disappearing fast, once again to the pecuniary advantage of the American and European drug business.
Don't tell me, and I am sure you will not, that Indians have the choice as to whether or not to buy GM seeds. One only has a choice when one possesses or, at least, has access to information. Hundreds of thousands of Indian rural workers have never had any education.
The reason I made the point in the beginning was an attempt (not a particularly good one) to hold up a mirror to America and the west, so they can see where they stand in relation to others who share this planet.
Once again it is a good time to remind people that the Ostrich School of Management is unacceptable.
