Meanwhile, the Wisconsin Senate approved a resolution that would hold absentee Democratic lawmakers "in contempt of the Senate" should they not return to the Capitol by late afternoon.

The measure would allow state law enforcement to issue a warrant in an effort to detain them and return the lawmakers to Wisconsin, according to Senate Majority Leader spokesman Andrew Welhouse

:)

that would be hilarious to watch them dragged back via the police force...how embarrassing for them

How would that work? Would they literally be cuffed and released once back in the state Capitol or would they be threatened with jail time if they don't return?

It won't work. The Senate Republicans don't get to decide to issue arrest warrants for their political opponents because the Democrats have decided not to show up for work.

Passing an order allowing someone to do something when you lack the authority to allow that person to do that which you are allowing him to do doesn't mean that person now can and will do what you authorized him to do. Got it, Crawfish?

Wanna bet on it?

normally, i'd say you're full of shit because a police officer, state or local, will follow the orders of those in government put down on paper, whether they are legal or not. They do have immunity and it wouldn't hurt them in any way. However, since the police officers in wisconsin are also members of their own union, it wouldn't surprise me to see them 'follow' the order, but do so with the same intensity that my step kids would have when told to clean their rooms.

Here's what I'll bet on, you communist scum... I'll bet the missing Democrats will either show the fuck up and vote, or be arrested for contempt! This isn't some third-world hoodlumville, this is the United States of America, we have a process and a form of government, and these people are currently OBSTRUCTING it! I don't give a piss that you don't LIKE what Walker is doing, organize the voters and vote him out of office! You can't run away to another state and refuse to participate in democracy! That little "plan" is not going to work... it was cute... it was clever... but the gig is up now, you got your publicity, you riled up the base... now it's time to face the legislative music and do what the people elected you to do.

So put that in your pipe (with your crack rock) and smoke it, Big Boy!

You said democracy didn't mean jack shit to you, though...

What was the context in which that was stated? I am very much "pro-democracy" in my beliefs... are you talking about my comments regarding a PURE democracy in the Middle East? Onzies, we need to work on getting you a basic primer, so you can understand these big words like "democracy" and maybe you wouldn't make such a fool of yourself so often...nah, you'd still find a way to do that... but still, it would be nice to have you educated past the 3rd grade level.

the AG should prosecute: Wis. Stat. sec. 946.12--"Any public officer or public employee who does any of the following is guilty of a Class I felony: Intentionally fails or refuses to perform a known mandatory, nondiscretionary, ministerial duty of the officer's or employee's office or employment within the time or in the manner required by law. . ."

Got it; you're for democracy when it's convenient for you. Understood.

Dix, we all know that had these been Republicans, you would have just started your 5th or 6th thread glorifying them as the most important & courageous Americans to breathe since Rosa Parks...

still furiously looking nigel :)

i already have the law....just let me know when you want it and when you're going to change your avi

No, I am for Representative Democracy, as we have established in the United States, which has been our way of governing for over 230 years. I am not as fucking ignorant and stupid as you, as to assume that any old "democracy" is the same thing, as there is a REASON we established a REPRESENTATIVE democracy here.

By "we all know" ....do you mean you and the voices inside your head? Because the people who frequent this board, most certainly don't know any such a thing, and I most certainly wouldn't condone ANY politician subverting democracy this way. I don't know what affliction makes you think I would, some sort of drug-induced brain damage, is the only thing I can figure.

First, we don't have a bet. I asked if you wanted to bet, you replied in the affirmative. We have yet to determine the terms of the bet. I propose $500 for the wager. We also have to determine what exactly must occur for one of us to win or lose. I propose that if none of the 14 Democratic Senators are placed in custody by the police under the authority of this resolution, I win. If any of them are placed in custody under authority of this resolution, you win. Deal?

And you don't have the law. You just think you have the law.
