On occaision the GOP embraces conservatism. Why are you liberals so unhappy when they don't?
Reasonable fiscal conservatism would have been a good thing from 2001-2008. We are now dealing with the lack thereof, and the price will be highest for those least able to afford it.
Just from 2001 to 2008?
You don't think fiscal conservatism would have been a huge help from 1992 to 2000??
Hmmm, imagine that.
I think there was fiscal conservatism from 92-2000. Clinton had all kinds of ambitions he put aside to balance the budget.
Nice deflection by the way. The deficit enlarged dramaticaly under Bush II. Do you deny this?
None...Remember the Bush Medicare prescription drug program?
How many Republicans opposed that by calling it a "government takeover" of the healthcare industry?
Yep....he did just about everything Newt Gingrich told him to do...I think there was fiscal conservatism from 92-2000. Clinton had all kinds of ambitions he put aside to balance the budget.

So you turned liberal after 2008?Reasonable fiscal conservatism would have been a good thing from 2001-2008. We are now dealing with the lack thereof, and the price will be highest for those least able to afford it.
Clinton was able to balance the budget because of legislation enacted by Congress in 1988, which included the Social Security Trust Fund in the General Budget. It's like, if you took all your money out of your 401k and savings, and put it in your checking account, and said... Hey honey, look... I finally balanced our checkbook!
Indeed, the deficit enlarged under Bush... it was the single biggest complaint conservatives had against Bush, and ultimately, what pushed his popularity down in his second term. But Obama has outspent Bush --PLUS ALL OTHER PREVIOUS PRESIDENTS COMBINED!
Yep....he did just about everything Newt Gingrich told him to do...
That alone shows Clinton was pretty smart and could follow a leader...
None...
Four years into full operation, President George W. Bush’s Medicare prescription drug program is coming in well below its projected cost.---Washington Times
Cost was projected to be $111.2 Billion
Actual cost in 2009 was $60.8 Billion...
It was never called a government takeover that I remember but
the legislation narrowly passed the House and Senate with opposition from Democrats, who said the program was too stingy and relied too heavily on private companies, and from a cadre of conservative Republicans who argued that it would cost too much and blow a giant hole in the deficit.
Next.
So you turned liberal after 2008?![]()
He did? Is that why the government shut down twice when the GOP and the president disagreed over the budget?
Nixon did it to my generation, and Bush did it to yours...
