Eh - my take is more that he won't be able to really get much done w/ a slim majority, and a minority party that will try to trim off enough D's every time to just block him. He's better off w/ trying to forge compromise w/ a GOP majority that actually wants to produce good legislation instead of just obstruct.

As for the actual "failure" of policies, I don't think that will pan out. The economy is taking baby steps right now, but it will roar sooner or later, and when it does, whoever is in there will get the credit...

I'll be flipping around the channels watching my regular Tuesday programming, MSNBC, CNN & even some Fox. Can't help it, I like seeing the results as they come in. When I was younger (I was 9 when Carter was elected) I couldn't sleep the night of a presidential election. At least I've outgrown that. :)

you've been saying that since 2000....despite the dems having a majority in the houses since 2006 and president + majority in the houses since 2008....

why would you be excited about continually saying the same thing for over a decade?

If the Senate does go 50/50.... I want to see ole' Biden come a trottin in to break some ties. That will be good for a gaffe or two. :)

I disagree; people were saying the same thing in the mid-90's, but I thought Congress worked well w/ the Prez & vice versa; same w/ the 80's.

I think a GOP Congress will definitely make an effort to repeal healthcare, though, which could create a lot of rancor...
 
I call this election 1994 Redux. The Obama administration passed health care where the Clinton administration could only talk about it and scare people. Only this time, it won't be a total Republican victory. The Dems will still possess the tie breaker in the Senate and the House will pass lots of partisan Republican bills. Those bills will rarely if ever be passed, in any form, in the Senate, and nothing will get done. The house will introduce a budget that Obama will not sign. The Senate will pass their version that the house will not meet them half way on. The government will shut down, and much like 94, the republicans will, rightly or wrongly, get the blame, which will probably boost Obama for one more term, IF the economy is doing better. Save this and lets see how it plays out with reality.

And the "latino" vote is pretty disgusted with being used by democrats...all the support they threw Obama's way with absolutely NOTHING to show for it!
 
I will say this for the Right, they were far more resolved to their fate in 2008 than the left is this year. Hope springs eternal, but only for the person that cannot read the writing on the wall.
