Does Barack Obama want to be re-elected in 2012?

can you please just post part of the article so i know whether its good or not, i don't always have time or a desire to clink on links

thanks

Good article... I like a president who cares less about his own political future and more about the nation. Good for him!

The Democrats had been waiting for this moment in history when they had a majority in the House, a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate and an extremist in the White House. It was the perfect storm for them to put a few final nails in the coffin of what made this country great: capitalism. Now that they've done it, sure they'd like to get re-elected forever but they have their big pensions and will gladly settle for early retirement.

I gotta hand it to them they've planned and fought for this for decades and when the time came for those at the point of the sword to sacrifice themselves they did just that. I wish the pansies in the GOP had the same level of commitment to their cause.

The GOP as a whole is not any different than the elite in DNC. Odds are they are going to take the House and maybe the Senate in Nov. Question then will be, what they do after that. It will determine results in 2012.

It goes to show how far out on the lunatic fringe you are that a two time Bush voting reactionary like you would call a left of center moderate like Obama an extremist! LOL

Capitalism is dead? I'm bummed; I really liked Capitalism.

Obama is pretty much viewed by liberals like Clinton was; too moderate, too compromising & not even close to bold enough.

Wishfull thinking. They might, might take the house, no way will they take the senate. All the pollings I've seen indicate they will make serious gains but not the kind your thinking. Keep in mind, as unpopular as democratic congressionals are, republican congressionals are even more unpopular.

To see what I mean about the Senate, look at 4 or so Teabag Senate candidate who won their parties nomination and then promptly shot them selves in the foot. The same people who opposed Obama, the birthers, the "he's a muslim crowd", the "he's a socialist" wackos, all opposed him in 08. Nothings really changed there and the swing voters and folks out in the burbs have not forgottent what a miserable failure the Bush administration was with their extremist far right policies. We aint gonig back to that.

To me the fact that the nut job extremist on both sides like Bravo, CK, Dixie and SM don't like him is a very good sign that he's the right man for the job.

Agreed, but what's interesting is that most of the posters you mentioned - as well as a few others - have gone to great lengths to paint Obama as a socialist who has taken the country on an extreme left turn, but also have posts that basically say "he's just like Bush!"

I don't even care. My #1 concern right now is the economy - more action is needed, and bolder action is needed. People say the stimulus didn't work, but the simple fact is that is wasn't enough. We're at a pretty key juncture right now.

The Republicans are very likely to loose a Senate Seat in Florida... Crist will win and he said he is not going to Caucus with the Republicans... YOu got the tea party to thank for that one!

LOL Oh yea. I think that's hillarious. They get their right wing nuts elected. They faile miserably and then they throw them under the bus cause "they weren't conservative enough."

How long will it take before they realise it's not the politicans it's the policies?

Yea I don't think you're going to see any serious change in the Senate. The do stand a very real chance of losing the house. We will see. The Dems have been keeping a low profile but they have a lot of ammunition and actually more money. How often has that happened?

I have had a theory that modern two term presidents intentionally follow a pattern... First year get some big stuff accomplished and work to stay popular in order to accomplish that...

Second year, (off term election year) Allow the popularity to drop as low as you dare intentionally sacraficing the congressional portion of your party so that you will have an enemy to fight while rebuilding your popularity as an underdog during the third and fourth years.

America loves the underdog and the outsider, for a sitting president to appear as such he must be unpopular in the second year. It was no accident that Bill Clinton called himself "the comeback kid"... He made it look like that intentionally.

President has it set up well, his economic recovery packages were not really set to start having a large effect until next year, if he played it correctly the economy will be in the middle of a strong and healthy recovery November of 2012 and his popularity will be at the top of a long recovery.

We will see...

Carter - Very popular at mid-term.
Reagan - very unpopular two years in.
GHWB Sr. - Very Popular at mid-term.
Clinton - Very unpopular two years in.
GWB Jr. - Different two years in due to 9-11, very popular and won reelection by one of the slimest margins ever.
Obama - Very unpopular two years in.

Ill take my chances with being unpopular two years in...

GWB winning re-election was such a fluke. He needed one of the most inept campaigns by an opponent ever, during a time of war, to eke it out. And I still think the exit polls weren't wrong on that day.

as usual onceler distorts what people actually say....

what they say is:

he is like bush in SOME areas, like his continuing secrecy, voting just like bush for the patriot act extension, making bush's arguments in court etc....

Republicans, "Obama is just like Bush, if Bush were a slimy Muslim socialist!"

Republicans, "Obama is just like Bush, if Bush were a slimy Muslim socialist!"

your head is always in the sand jarod....you should actually read what people say instead of looking at everythign throught hack view....why do they say obama is like bush? specifically.....

oh yea...for the very things you bitched about bush for but have been virtually silent on obama for...you and other dems may have made a "mad" comment once or twice, but you are by and large silent when obama has stood for some of the same things bush did, and you bitched loudly about bus for it
