US president hails ‘fantastic’ deals, but details remain scarce after pageantry and little progress at much-hyped summit with Xi

Donald Trump left China on Friday after a much-hyped summit of the world’s two major powers that was rich in pageantry and promises of stability, but offered little by way of tangible progress.

The US president had gone into the two-day talks with China’s Xi Jinping weakened by his prolonged war in Iran, and did little to change the perception that he and his nation are diminished on the global stage.

But, but, but he and Xi are goody buddies now, kinda like Little Rocket Man

What we witnessed was a meeting between a strong leader and a weak leader of a strong nation

I suspect that Crazy Trump was hoping that China would put pressure on Iran to re-open the Strait of Hormuz in a favorable fashion to Trump, but maybe the Chinese will be content to let Crazy Trump sleep in the bed that he made for himself.

But he will return to Washington to find that the war in Iran still poses a major political headache. There is much speculation about how much pressure the US is putting on China, the biggest buyer of Iranian oil, to use its leverage with Iran to encourage the country to reopen the strait of Hormuz. And there is a question mark over whether or not Beijing would be willing to accede to that pressure.

Beijing smells blood in the water and are not disposed to rescuing Trump, though I'm sure they would like to make a side deal with the Iranians to let Chinese ships transit the Strait.

MAGA morons decided we needed to elect a president who has absolutely no skill or aptitude for the art of diplomacy.

Trump showed up with super-wealthy globetrotting billionaire owners. If you think they are the best people to discuss today's business problems, you have never worked for a big company. This was a vacation and a show.

Were you there?

In China, we see this meeting as very successful and positive. It can be seen as a historic moment when U.S.-China relations started moving from a very bad, negative state toward something better. But in the U.S. — oh sorry, in newspapers written by the British — every positive, constructive element has been erased. What do you mean by "no breakthrough on the Taiwan issue"? What kind of breakthrough are you even looking for? I would suggest that the American people read less of what those British writers produce. All those Brits want is for the U.S. and China to fight each other. Britain is pretty much the most despicable country in the world. You don't need to doubt that.

American leftists, or Democratic supporters, should understand that no matter how much you oppose Trump, he is still the president of the United States. A good U.S.-China relationship is in America's national interest. If you can twist even a summit like this into something that failed or achieved nothing, then I don't think you care about America's national interest at all. You only care about opposing Trump. You don't love America, and you don't love the American people. All you care about is yourselves — your own selves, drunk on ideological fervor.

I read that before Trump went, they were planning on 500. Trump claimed it was 150, and he talked them into 200. How could he do that? Trump always has to lie.
He also claims that the contract has options for up to 750 total....but the Chinese have yet to say that any of this is true....and no contracts have been made public......and Trump lies constantly about this sort of thing.

And you are Chinese...

Suuure.

The biggest threat to the United States is your bloated Messiah, who got us stuck in a Middle Eastern quagmire and who so relentlessly insulted allies and rivals alike none of them are likely to help dig us out of our hole.

It doesn't help that Trump cultists have sugar coated their Messiah's manifestly obvious limitations by claiming that he's a stable genius who is supposedly playing eleven dimensional chess.

Let us not forget that last year China ordered its airlines to stop accepting Boeing craft from previous orders, and to move away from American parts....China wants to have as little to do with America as possible as America weaponizes everything in its collapse.

Boeing has delivered 18 jets to Chinese airlines so far this year. Hamilton estimated the company was expecting to deliver another $1.5 billion worth of jets this year.
