Power there belongs not to a single person or a family clan, but to an orderly structure bound by a common ideology.In such systems, a different selection principle applies. Not "who steals the most" or "whose family is stronger". But "who has proven personal loyalty to the cause".That's why the method of targeted eliminations, which works against autocracies, backfired here. Iran didn't collapse - it consolidated.In systems where elites are focused on accumulation, the fear of losing capital paralyzes them. There, the top starts negotiating, betraying, saving assets.Western strategists miscalculated. They measured Iran by their own standards: they thought the elites would be scared, falter, start bargaining. But they encountered the fact that power there doesn't rest on fear and money, but on the fact that the next ruling layer is ready to take the place of the one eliminated.

We have repeatedly said the security of our territorial waters is in our hands alone, and that we offer safe passage to non-enemy mercantile vessels with coordination with our armed forces.

He says he has destroyed all of Iran's weapons,
Heard an oil guy on TV saying if the war stopped today, the prices would not drop for at least 6 months.
 

Obama: Netanyahu pushed for war on Iran using same arguments presented to Trump​



Barack Obama has said that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu repeatedly tried to persuade him to launch a full-scale armed confrontation with Iran.

In an interview published on Monday by The New Yorker, Obama said Netanyahu used the same arguments and justifications that he later presented to US President Donald Trump.

Obama added that although Netanyahu ultimately achieved his aim, he remains highly doubtful that such a war would serve the interests of either Israeli or American citizens.

He also noted that historical records clearly show the deep disagreements that marked his relationship with Netanyahu over the Iran issue. “I think there’s an ample record of my differences with Mr. Netanyahu,” Obama said.

The Trump administration has tried to paint the current naval warfare near the Strait of Hormuz as defensive.

The remarks come as the Trump administration is dubiously trying to argue that the unilateral "ceasefire" put a pause on the 60-day deadline required for the president to obtain approval from Congress for the war. This may be part of the reason that the administration is trying to downplay recent military activities.

This reasoning, however, is almost the exact opposite of the supposed justification laid out by the administration in a memo by the State Department’s Office of the Legal Adviser last month. In that document, which sought to address the war in the context of international law, legal advisers said that the Trump administration does not need to obtain congressional approval because they have already been at war with Iran for years, or potentially even decades.
