Palin angered by 'sexist' Newsweek cover

I don't care what choices she makes in her own life but she had no business trying to push a retro social agenda on the country. I read all of her positions at the link and can agree with her on many, but for me the negatives outweigh the positives.QUOTE]

but it's ok for you lefties to push your agenda on others..
like what the dictator in chief and his administration of commies are doing right now against the peoples wishes..

She's a private citizen on a book tour. Why is this such a big deal? She wrote a payback rant about how badly she was treated during the campaign, and she's playing coy about her future political aspirations so why does she deserve any special treatment from any magazine?

It has nothing to do with special treatment. For whatever reason she has this big following so Newsweek is trying to capitalize on it as well. Newsweek took a picture without permission from another magazine and put it on its cover trying to create controversy to sell its magazine. That's what's bullshit.

It has nothing to do with liking or disliking Palin. You can dislike her personally dislike her policy positions and still recognize this cover is crap. That's all it is.

This thread got to 200 posts basically because Desh can't seperate her dislike of Palin from what Newsweek did.

And I agree with you Christie, she's a private citizen on a book tour. Who gives a crap? But obviously her being a former VP candidate and being such a polarizing figure and as Willie Brown said part of our pop culture now she's drawing massive attention.

Why don't you just ask me my definition of feminism and why I think Palin's two-faced....?

I'd like to hear it. Seriously. I can't put myself in the mind of women on this topic, and it would be cool to hear your perspective.

This is a serious question, if you wanna take a crack at it. Why does anybody think liberal women dislike Palin because of her looks?

Its just b.s. That's some crap rush limbaugh and the right wing started in the 1980s, and it just got traction with the knuckledragger crowd. That whole feminazi's jealous of other females crapola.

Oh, the irony of obese, drug-addited 50-ish year old radio talk show males judging the looks of other people! Hilarious!

Ass, you haven’t had a girlfriend or a date in ten years. Or more.

You have no idea what females think. And neither do I, but I’m smart enough and have enough experience with them to know it.

Sorry bro, I can’t accept the speculations on the female mind from a dude who hasn’t seen a real, live naked female in a decade.

Carry on.

All your conclusions are wrong.

Females are not a different species. Their thoughts are not all that unique.

But your whipmaster probably has you worshipping her.

Find your nutsack, bro.

... blatantly racist avatars of obama.

Is there a website somewhere that states what is and what is not racist? I don't see how a picture of Obama with a natural 1970's era 'fro meets that definition. Perhaps you can enlighten us non-elites.

Palin is correct. The wingnuts are, true to form, pegging the outrage meter at 11 over it but they have a point. You won't see a magazine cover of any male shameless self-promoter (all politicians are) like that. You didn't see Guiliani in drag on the cover of Newsweek.

What's worse is that the Newsweek folks apparently included this on the inside pages:

It's a disgrace. For a good analysis go here (Media Matters defending Palin?!?):

I would feel for her if she didn't ask for it and use her sexuality as part of her promoting herself. She got what she asked for...if it back fired on her, oh, so sorry!

You're delusional.
Okay, I'm delusional, but she has still promoted herself as the beauty Queen and that is all about sex. Whenever any other magazine calls her sexy and mentions her high heels and short skirts she didn't bitch, but now she finds this cover offensive and sexists, it makes me laugh!

When it comes to Sarah Palin, this "news" magazine has relished focusing on the irrelevant rather than the relevant.

The Runner's World magazine one-page profile for which this photo was taken was all about health and fitness - a subject to which I am devoted and which is critically important to this nation.

The out-of-context Newsweek approach is sexist and oh-so-expected by now. If anyone can learn anything from it: it shows why you shouldn't judge a book by its cover, gender, or color of skin.

The media will do anything to draw attention - even if out of context.
