What a weak man, all we can do is pray.

Story time:

A friend of mine was going to Moscow, about 25 years ago. He had a $35k IWC watch on his wrist, and suddenly got afraid that he might be robbed of the watch, so bought a $20 Casio watch in the New York airport. When he arrived in Russia, the customs official asked why he had two watches, accused him of planning to sell one of the watches, and stated that he was confiscating one of the watches. My friend was horrified to think he would lose his $35k IWC...

Until the customs official said he was confiscating the $20 Casio, along with its box and instructions. My friend spent an hour helping the customs agent use the watch, and translating the instructions. The customs agent was overjoyed to have a new Casio watch, and my friend was overjoyed to not lose his fine watch.

Good grief. They didn't even PRETEND to be honest, did they?

You're fond of statistics and research. Just for the hell of it, look up mass shootings in Australia versus in the United States in 2024, to make it simpler.

No law is ever going to completely stop these unnecessary massacres. But that doesn't mean that we should just give in to carnage and murder.
While on the 90 minute drive each way to our Christmas family gathering, the subject came up with my wife taking a 20 IQ test and both agreeing they'd ask for money for the results. Being an explorer, she took the test anyway. It was mostly spatial relations from her descriptions as I was driving. We both laughed when they asked for $5.99 for the results.

After that, I pulled over and texted her the below before driving on:
Mental Health and Personality Tests | Psychology Today
Mental Health Assessment tests

Mental Health Assessment
Depression
What Type of Smart Are You?
Extroversion
Attention Span Test
Type-A Personality
Memory Test
Anger Management Test
Assertiveness
Perfectionism Test

That was only about 20 minutes into the drive so I asked her to give me a few tests, her selection, which we did. There was some mutual laughter as she called bullshit on some of my answers. LOL

When you give absolute powers to the police, there is no reason for them to pretend to be honest.

If ICE is above the law for a few years, they will do the same. At their roadblocks on the street, they will collect "fines" from all who pass. A few years more, and if they see a good looking girl, they will take her in for "questioning."

I really do not think most Americans realized how good we had it. It gets dark from here.

If U Know this then why have you given me so much shit for saying the exact same thing?

I hope that you're wrong and fear that you're not.

What may save us is the prevalence of cell cameras owned by individual citizens, and the Internet. They might shut down the media but they can't stop citizens from recording their law-breaking actions and posting it for all to see.

What year are we living in?
Is it the late 1930's?
Sure looks like it could be.
And thank GOD we do have those cameras , they didn't have them back then.

You had a good union job for years right? You realize that unions artificially inflate the cost of labor right? All of us had to pay those sky high labor costs so you could get your union benefits. Now the guy that has had his job shipped overseas needs those jobs to come by onshore. Trump is trying to do that. There are going to be some pain like your oh so important cheap coffee but it it industrializes the US it is a small price to pay. I know you don't care as long as you get your's but I do and so does Trump..
The US industrialized 200 years ago.

We can rejoice, that would be a blessing for mankind.
...and his own family. OTOH, for the good of the nation, it's better that God takes him home with a heart attack or stroke. He's very unwell physically and mentally, so it may happen next year.

$20 says no fake tears.
