Gunz, and more gunz

No, she'd say it's just another expensive toy I want :(
Here's why it's only 23 pounds.

The Barrett MRAD ELR (Extreme Long Range) is built with high-end materials for precision, featuring a 7075 aluminum monolithic upper receiver, a heavy stainless steel barrel (often with a carbon fiber wrap option for weight savings), a robust M-Lok aluminum handguard, and an adjustable stock with polymer components (cheekpiece, recoil pad). Key elements include the full-length Picatinny rail, a specialized 3-port muzzle brake, and a durable Cerakote finish, all designed for the powerful .416 Barrett cartridge.

It looks like a very cool rifle. Not sure it is $4,200.00 worth of cool, but still.

And while I appreciate the extreme range capabilities, I'm not sure of a situation (other than on the range) that would allow such shooting.

Yeah, the closest 1000 yd. range is over an hour away. I wouldn't know where to go to shoot further. But I'd like to try...
I did shoot a .50 BMG, that was fun, but got a black & blue shoulder!

And usually 4 more rounds than were needed.

You are a badass. I fired 2 rounds and went back to my gentle 45-70 lever action.

The first round was a bit off (in the 7 ring), probably from the anticipation of the "shoulder shock." The last 4 were in the 9 and 10 rings., slightly low and to the right, but still pretty accurate enough to hit a coyote sized target. The best (hunting) shot I ever made was a prone shot at 780 yd. taking a groundhog with my varmint rifle. I also dropped a deer at over 500.

I had a mint .45-70 (and a .45-90) trap door. Like an idiot, I sold them...along with a number of other collectable firearms I should have kept.

I love my Marlin 45-70. Actually, I take it hunting more than I do my Rem. 700. The Remington has a far greater range, but the Marlin handles better. It comes up like a fine upland shotgun.
