So your position is that it's OK that black people are disproportionately arrested for marijuana possession because they're not being targeting for being black but for existing in "high crime" areas that police target for narcotics enforcement?

Just like poll taxes and literacy tests weren't about preventing black people from voting but just happened to disproportionately impact black people.

just because something results in disparity, does not by itself mean racial bias...you know that...don't play stupid here nigel

use some statistics. More minorities live in the so called "high risk" areas. If the police are patrolling those areas at a greater frequency, the likelyhood of those persons arrested being minority is a simple formula wieghted by the situtation.

You can make the argument that focusing on those areas is racist, but simple math tells us there is a greater likelyhood of the dominant residents of an area will be the targets of police action. No race factor there at all. It's simple math

Well you know prohibition creates high crime areas. Especially in low income areas.

One things for sure, rich whites are smoking pot just as much as blacks. (%)

Which means that there should be more whites in jail than blacks. But they're not.

Maybe the definition of a high crime area is "a black area of town."

If you're being serious, then show how the crime rate is just as high in more affluent areas.
Pleae take things into consideration, like:
1. shootings
2. robberies
3. murders
4. theft
5. drug dealing on the corners
6. graffitti
7. open gang presence
8. rape
9. etc

I was talking about prohibition. Rich people can bye there pot, and don't really need a gun. Poor people see it as something that has real value, and run a business around a bunch of poor people who would be more likely to create crime for things other than having a good time. Mainly money.

OHHHHHHHHHHHH; and here I thought this was about the perception that some had, regarding more blacks then whites being arrested for drugs.

I was always under the misconception that it kind of raises the odds of being arrested, when you do something illegal in a high crime area; where there are more Police Patrols.
