FORT MYERS. Fla. – Jaimee Michell, founder and president of Gays Against Groomers, said transgenderism should be classified as a mental illness, arguing that cross-sex hormones only worsen the problem.
This comes after a transgender gunman opened fire during a mass shooting early Wednesday morning, killing two children and injuring 17 others, according to several news outlets.
Speaking on Florida’s Voice Radio with host Drew Steele, Michell warned that prescribing synthetic hormones to those suffering from gender dysphoria is “a recipe for disaster.”
“Time and time again when we sound the alarm that cross sex hormones given to a mentally ill person, which every single trans person is — like, it’s not, I’m not trying to be hateful. It’s just that’s literally—it is a mental illness — gender dysphoria,” Michell said. “So treating a mental illness with hormones, cross sex hormones, synthetic hormones, it’s a recipe for disaster, and it ends in violence far too many times.”
