My SO says they went to african-art museums, BB king concerts, and saw some documentary about Martin Luther King. Some cool ass shit - shit that might make me want to join. Obviously, a lot of chilling out and socializing, just like any other cultural club. Something you might not have experience with.

I gather from this thread that republicans were either hilariously clueless that black school clubs are open to everyone to join, or republicans are uncomfortable and afraid of being around black people. Maybe instead of forming RACE based associations, our education system, as well as the rest of society, need to start promoting multi-race, multi-cultural associations. Have a group of kids go and see African Art museums, BB King concerts, and video presentations of Martin Luther King Jr., PLUS a Native American museum, the replica of Thomas Edison's workshop, the Henry Ford museum, A presentation on Egyptology, an engineer's presentation on the Great Wall of China, etc. etc. etc.

When you allow - even encourage - racial association, you are only continuing the age-old problem of racial disharmony. Focus on race, and racism is the inevitable result. You ARE promoting racism with your attitudes.

Black americans broadly speaking have distinct and identifiable cultural roots. They were segregated by this nation into a generally monolithic group based on skin color. And their african, and black-american roots form the basis for a distinct, and identifiable broader cultural and ethnic identity.

There is no such thing as a "white american" experience. Whites weren't segregated and caricatured into a monolithic subculture. on the basis of skin color. Whites overwhelmingly identify with their irish, italian, or greek roots.

Sorry if you don't like it, that's just the fact.
