Nope. Oral history is not considered valid. Historians have standards to maintain and only first-hand accounts are acceptable. Your bogus premise gets your argument discarded.

The term is UFO (Unidentified Flying Object), not AFO (Alien Flying Object). UFOs are terrestrial in nature, just unidentified and unexplained (officially). All those for which there is clear imagery are no longer UFOs. Where did "alien spaceships" enter the picture?

Herodotus is our primary sources for the Persian emperor Xerxes and for the history of the Greco-Persian wars. Herodotus was never an eyewitness to the Persian wars, and was writing decades after Xerxes died

Herodotus simply served as a scribe, writing down the first-hand accounts of those he interviewed. Herodotus was an historian; he only worked off of first-hand accounts.

That's exactly the way much of our knowledge of ancient history works, by people writing down an oral tradition they received from eyewitnesses or from reports of people who knew the eyewitnesses.

That's exactly what I said in post #1. Herodotus never met the Persian emperors, and he was not a witness to the Persian wars.
