Quite right! Now that EV mandates are going away (thanks, Trump!), the demand for them has fallen.
Ford got out of EVs completely. They were losing a ton of money on them.
Government Motors, of course, still tries to push the things, but they can't hope to complete with Tesla.

It's ALREADY the world leader in EVs. If you really want to waste your money on an EV, at least buy a Tesla.
Too dangerous and it wouldn't provide much range or power. EVs already burn down enough houses. You don't need cars exploding in them!
Lithium-ion batteries ARE dangerous. They are, however, the lightest high current battery available. Unfortunately, when these things are shorted, defective, or just mishandled during the charging process, they will catch fire and burn like a firework. You can't use water to put it out until the entire pack is involved, because it's an electrical fire until then. You only expand the fire.
A better alternative is the lithium phosphate battery. It's light, but its higher internal resistance means the battery only smokes instead of catching fire. Unfortunately, this higher internal resistance makes it unsuitable for an EV. Works great for portable battery and backup battery systems though, even though it's a bit heavier.
Gasoline is still the engine of choice among consumers, with diesel oil being used for high torgue applications like trucks and tractors.

Tesla stock reached record highs in late 2024, so how on Earth did we get here, and why do so many people suddenly hate Tesla?

America's love-hate relationship with Tesla
It may be easy to dismiss Tesla as a brand because of its CEO's antics, strong anti-union sentiments and lack of transparency with the press. Not to mention consistent promises during shareholder meetings and rollouts that often seem like dreams rather than achievable goals. Musk shoots for the moon, regardless of how hard the landing may be.
America's relationship with Tesla is an odd one, because on one end of the spectrum, the company is a true testament to the ingenuity of American engineering. After all, Teslas are easily some of the most American-made vehicles in the country. The company created huge plants in America employing thousands and pushing the envelope for the home team in the EV space.
Rivals like Rivian show plenty of promise, but no American company has been able to achieve as much success as Tesla in production and sales. Numbers don't lie, and Tesla outsold popular gas models from Honda, Stellantis and Toyota in 2024. In fact, it's the only electric vehicle to break into the top 25 best-selling vehicles of the year list in 2024. It dominated sales in states like California, Nevada, New Jersey and Washington.
Why are people attacking Tesla?
For an EV enthusiast, there are plenty of reasons to love the brand's products. That's why it was the bestselling vehicle in the world at a point in 2024, according to Statista. On the other hand, there's a nationwide attack on the once-beloved electric vehicle company, and it has everything to do with reactions to Musk's involvement with the government.
