They happen to fuck with a whole bunch of people who got no profit from the assholes who just killed 11 people and are about to distroy huge swathes of wetlands.
Do you understand what this is going to do to the fishing and tourism industry in the area for decades?

And here I thought big business did better when the government stayed out of things. I hear all the time how with less regulations, less government, businesses, like the oil business would do much better. Well now is the time to pony up. Show us how they do things better, cheaper and faster than the federal government ever could. This is the result of dependence on oil, period. For decades people have wanted the US to get off the oil tit, but there is just too much money to be made so now the gulf is fucked. There are 200k gallons a day pouring into the gulf and the guy from the oil company that owns this cluster fuck said it could take 90 days to stop the leaking. I guess what pisses me off the most is the oil industry gets indignant when people talk about the polution from their industry UNTIL this happens then they walk around on TV news shows with their thumbs up their asses acting like they don't know what the fuck they are doing.

How much does a destroyed ecosystem cost?
Gas is as cheap as it is because the true costs associated with the extraction, production and use of gasoline are not reflected in its price. If those externalities were reflected in the price, we'd see a hell of a lot more alternative energy use.

I don't think so. Gas would be alot cheaper had the dems not stonewalled building a few new refineries decades ago.

No, you are misunderstanding me. There are all sorts of negative externalities flowing from the extraction, production and use of fossil fuels - mainly environmental degredation - that are not included in the price of gas.

Why are the Democrats to blame for the decision of oil companies not to build more refineries? Should the government build its own refineries or something?
