I respect that. I find 70% to be punitive - if that actually became the rate, I'd prefer to see a more earnest effort to reduce the size of the bureaucracy. I'm not comfortable w/ the idea of adding more to the budget (like the green new deal) and just continuing to raise taxes to pay for it.

I think our government in general needs more fiscal responsibility. DOGE is a joke, but Gore had started a program to increase efficiency in the late '90s that was making real progress but was abandoned when Bush took over.

It says the federal government shall protect the States from invasion. If illegal immigration is an invasion, then did Trump and the MAGAts in Congress violate their oaths by not only failing to pass an Immigration bill but by turning it down?

Did Trump take an oath to uphold the Constitution?
Committing treason by attacking Congress violates that oath.

If our government were serious about reducing fraud and costs, like I always say, they’d start at the DOD, then the state Department. I think both abuse the system under all Presidents and administrations.

Why aren’t they passing it now? You’d think it would be the first bill they bring to the floor, instead of Red, White, Blue Land.

Not sure about the DoD since all of their appropriations come from Congress. The military only buys what Congress tells them to buy. Sure, no doubt there's a lot of pork in such appropriations but it's not the military who wants the pork. It's Congressional Critters scratching each other's backs.

I suspect something similar happens at State.

Because it's all a scam. They don't want to fix the problem. They just want the MAGA morons to think they are doing something about it.

Who really thinks a wall would stop illegal immigration as opposed to passing and enforcing laws that lock up business owners who hire, rent to or otherwise entice illegals to stay? Outside of MAGA morons, that is.

The DOD fails it audits every year. Afghanistan and Iraq were dark money pits. You are correct about Congress, but there is a lot of fraud connected with DOD.

If true, then why hasn't Congress held them accountable? Isn't that their job?

As for Dark Money pits, I think you'd have to look at the CIA and State to see where that money really went. LOL

One thing about the United States; like Elon Musk, We, as a nation, have most of the world's wealth. We, as a nation, would rather spend money than spill American blood....and we do it very well. :)

Don’t make me laugh, the DOD has always been the Holy Grail and you’re deemed a traitor if you suggest an investigation and cuts.

The CIA is a dark money pit, but DOD is the Fort Knox of fat contracts and padding your pockets.

I have no problem with eliminating waste, fraud and abuse. Every squadron I was in had signs to that effect. The purpose of IG inspections was partially to take a look at where the money was going. Cutting funding was another topic. Clinton and the Democratic Congress made major cuts then doubled military commitments with Bosnia and Haiti.

Again, the purpose of Congress, specifically the appropriate committees, is to monitor how the money is spent. If there's fat contracts and padding of pockets, it's going to friends of Congress not friends of the US military.

With Trump firing all of the inspectors and oversight people, expect more fraud, waste and abuse going into the pockets of the rich.
