The pandemic issue was exacerbated by a President who lied to the public for 5 months while he realigned his business portfolio. Once the memes of vaccinations are bad, masks don't work and it's no worse than the flu had taken hold, even Trump couldn't stop the monster he created. Remember how he was booed at a conservative convention for advocating vaccinations? He quickly shut up about it and never mentioned it again.

That said, a pandemic is not a "common enemy" in the eyes of the low IQ and poorly educated. You can't see it and you can't touch it so, in their eyes, it doesn't really exist. A major terrorist attack blowing up a building or slamming an airplane into a skyscraper is more tangible for them.
