Is USA Racist?

Members of every nonwhite ethnic group have perceived racism. Even few European ethnics, such as Irish and Italians, were not considered "white" and were victims of racial discrimination also.

Major racist USA institutions include slavery, Indian reservations, segregation, internment camps and denial of human rights to nonwhites.

From their first immigration to America, Chinese were denied rights. Despite their hard work and intelligence in the gold mines and to build the trans-continental railway, the racism of USA led to the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882, which barred Chinese, except for a minority wealthy class, from entering the United States for a period of 10 years.

This was followed by a wave of anti-Chinese immigration laws and court cases that made their way to the Supreme Court of the United States.

USA discrimination against Asians, Africans, Latin, Muslims and Arabs is widely acknowledged.

I actually enjoy having discussions on the issue of race even though they can become quite heated, passionate and divisive. However deny as you like having that discussion with someone who is obviously on this board with an anti-American agenda serves no real purpose.

You seem to think we can apply a blanket sentiment on all of America, as if we all feel and think the same way. We are either all racists or we aren't, that is my interpretation of what you are asking, and I think it is foolish to apply a generalization to ALL of America.

Do we have racist viewpoints? Most certainly! Democrats in particular, although they try to mask it with guilt-laden programs for those they discriminate against the most. Harry Reid admits that Democrats would have never voted for Obama if he talked "black" or had darker skin. It's only because people like Chris Matthews can look at him and not thing of him as "black", that they could stand to vote for him. So we know by their own remarks the Democrats are racist, or at least those two are. And I am sure there are Republican racists too, this doesn't isolate itself within political ideology. So, some people are racist and some people aren't. That's the best answer you can expect.

I get bashed all the time as being a racist, but I am 1/16 black, so it would be mighty self-defeating for me to hold racist views. It is primarily a bigoted view based on my usage of the confederate flag, which has been falsely tied to racism in America. I don't mind taking the heat from intolerant bigots who are applying a stereotypical prejudice, I know what I believe in my heart and that's all that really matters to me.
