France & Germany still DO NOT PAY their NATO obligations - a middle finger to Ukraine

[FONT=&]In 2006, NATO defence ministers agreed to commit a minimum of 2 percent of their gross domestic product (GDP) to defence spending to ensure military readiness of the alliance. That's nearly 20 years ago, shit for brains!

Lying is the norm as the West circles the drain.

Quote the rest of it shit for brains and understand this is a guideline and aspirational and NOT a requirement. This was not like a contractual obligation where you can sue if the other party does not achieve it.

- Allies whose current proportion of GDP spent on defence is below this level will: halt any decline; aim to increase defence expenditure in real terms as GDP grows; and aim to move towards the 2% guideline within a decade with a view to meeting their NATO Capability Targets and filling NATO's capability shortfalls.
While the 2% of GDP guideline alone is no guarantee that money will be spent in the most effective and efficient way to acquire and deploy modern capabilities, it remains an important indicator of the political resolve of individual Allies to contribute to NATO’s common defence efforts.

The Defence Investment Pledge endorsed in 2014 called for Allies to meet the 2% of GDP guideline for defence spending and the 20% of annual defence expenditure guideline on major new equipment by 2024...

To compare it to something you would understand imagine you parents pressure you to move your grades up, as a kid, from a failing grade to something that passes. You agree and make the commitment you will try. You may succeed or fail in doing so but you are not REQUIRED to do so.

And most Nato countries have been going towards that goal and many have surmounted it.

That aside, it is still madness for Trump to say 'if you do not, I will tell Putin and Xi they are free to attack any of our allies who are not meeting the target, as they want to'.

Can you recognize why that is madness? Or are you brains to muddled with shit?

What do you care? You chose to live in the authoritarian police state of Thailand, and you kneel to kiss Trump's feet. Left to his own devices, Trump would pull out of NATO and abandon Ukraine

I accept your apology for your lie about how countries are violating the treaty so it is OK for the US to violate it.l

In typical white lib fashion, your little issue is irrelevant. Period. There is no mechanism to expel members for violations. Your "issues" are irrelevant to the discussion topic.

Of course they are violating the intent of the treaty, and the purpose of the 2006 member consensus pledge. Duh.

We know you don't care about this. You never have. No one ever has. Then Trump mentioned it. And like the obedient, brain dead lapdog you are, you began repeating it. And repeating it. And repeating it. Can you remember the last time you had an original thought?

You are incoherent. Don't Care about what? Repeating what?

Is the reason you used such old data because the new data has flipped on Pedo Don?

Since we are talking about the treaty.
There is no mechanism to allow a member to refuse to come to the aid of another member just because they haven't paid 2% of their GDP for defense
There is no mechanism for a member of the treaty to tell other countries to attack a member and they won't come to their aid.

Trump's statement does more to violate the intent of the treaty than a member not paying 2% of the GDP for defense does.

But in typical Trump sycophant fashion you have failed to read the actual treaty to see that Trump's statement is the violation and not paying the 2%.

I said nothing incoherent, but I'm not surprised this went over your head.

"France and Germany – both missed the mark at 1.9% and 1.57%"

You don't care about that. You're repeating Trump's schizophrenic shrieking.

Schizophrenic shrieking is a mainstay of Trumpian political strategy. Jus' sayin'.

Countries that refuse to pay up ... and demand Americans foot the bill ...
France (1.9 %)

None of the NATO nations "demand" that America pays the difference between their defense spending and the target, but France does not even accept American military aid. It withdrew from the NATO command structure. American forces are not stationed there.

2 greedy European economic power houses. :palm:
Why won't Europe pay for its own defense?

"Two founding states – France and Germany – both missed the mark at 1.9% and 1.57%, despite being economic leaders in the alliance."

Countries that refuse to pay up ... and demand Americans foot the bill ...
France (1.9 %)
Montenegro (1.87 %)
North Macedonia (1.87 %)
Bulgaria (1.84 %)
Croatia (1.79 %)
Albania (1.76 %)
Netherlands (1.7 %)

It amazes me that someone who famously doesn't pay their bills (Trump) and those who kiss up to Trump now all of the sudden become the world's collection agency.

Wrong.

NATO can not order us to go to war. We are NOT forced to defend Nato members.

It is OUR choice as America, White boy.

Article 3 states the individual States should provide for their own national defense. The 2% consensus clarifies the meaning of that.

Most Euro weenies would rather spend their money on their OWN massive welfare States than defending their neighbor, UKRAINE.
