Judge orders Trump to pay nearly $355 million in civil fraud trial

Firstly Trump did not request a jury trial. Oops.

Second NYS does not require one, in cases like this. Had Trump asked for one, it would have went to a hearing and could have been granted. At least part of his case was eligible for jury trial so the judge might have let it all go to jury to not split the baby.

But Oops, Alina Habba did it again.

(their stupidity is our super power)

It's what happens when you choose your representation on the basis of tits rather than wits.

The 7A says trump has an absolute right to a jury trial. Judges can't change that. You want to change the 7A, then you have to go thru the amending process.

Why are you so stupid? "Has the right" doesn't mean what you think it does. If the defendant either doesn't request a jury, or waives having one when asked, tough shit for him. Your #TangerineTyrant's attorneys had well over a year to file a request *after* the NYS AG requested a bench trial, but did not do so.

Cue all the Trump supporters with less than $5,000 in the bank searching the couch cushions for $355 million.

...and when they send in to Trump the $100 they could really use for their own bills, they do not see that Trump sneakily made the donation auto-repeating with the same ...

Trump Campaign Duped Donors, Including Dying Ones, With Scammy Payment Scheme: NYT

Donald Trump’s 2020 presidential campaign duped donors into making repeated contributions when they thought they were signing on for a one-time donation, ...

By making the default option for financial support “Make this a monthly recurring donation,” the campaign reportedly put supporters down for multiple donations of the same value as the first—known in internal campaign communications as a “money bomb.” So many donors felt taken in by the scheme that the Trump campaign was forced to make 530,000 refunds worth some $64 million.

Donors who claimed they were victimized by the scheme included Stacy Blatt, a 63-year-old cancer patient in hospice who made a $500 contribution then found himself unable to pay his utility bills and rent when the transaction repeated, costing him $3,000 in less than 30 days. His fixed income was only $1,000 per month....

As with Trump University, where Trump targeted his youngest most ardent fans with a 'get rich quick real estate scam' that cost many of them up to $35K in tuition, for nothing in return, Trump ALWAYS sees those who support him the most as the best targets for his grift.

What's REALLY dumb is that it's innocent people who should request a judge trial,

[or the truly non-liable defendant in a civil trial].

A judge is more likely to come up with the right decision.
I've served on juries. I can say that with confidence.

I'm fairly sure, also, that innocent people don't petition the court to grant them immunity for whatever it was that they really truly absolutely did not do. lol

Defrauding a state government to the tune of $355 million makes Trump "more in tune with the average guy"? How desperate do you have to be before you start posting self-affirming, delusional bullshit like that?

Yeah but Biden helped Hunter buy a TRUCK! Impeach! Impeach!

This will be overturned...Crazier than a loon judge...crazier DA...('Tish and Fani are competing in a fierce battle for jobs at The View...) So much for our justice system...

So now you're not just a fake "teacher," but also a fake "doctor," and a fake "attorney"? What does Fani Willis have to do with this judgment against your #MaliciousMessiah? Oh, that's right. She's another one of those accomplished, intelligent, articulate, powerful black women you hate so hard. You just can't resist a chance to take a jab at such, can you, Kleaglette? lol

Melania must be worried that Dump is going to blow Barron's inheritance.
I imagine the rest of the misbegotten spawn are equally worried. Well, maybe not Ivanka the Simple since she has a bit of her own plus Jared's fortune.
IMHO, Melania is smart enough to have covered both her and her son's ass in the prenup renegotiations just like Ivanka covered hers a few years ago. Junior and Eric are proving they could have starred in HBO's "Succession" by being such greedy suckups. LOL

In fairness to Trump, and i am not being sarcastic here, I would bet he saw the ~$4MM he has paid Alina as a potential bargain, as it is clear that most of his life he has paid women, he finds attractive, to engage with him.

In Alina he has younger version of Melania, who he thought was costing him a FRACTION of what Melania does. And Alina flatters his ego, shows up as arm candy for Trump at his private functions and rallies while not showing the utter disdain and disgust that Melania shows him.

What Trump did not calculate was that Alina would end up costing, indirectly almost $500MM more than planned with her 'I can fake smart' lawyering.

Trump assumes if someone flatters him they are capable and that is ALL he needs to hire them, into key jobs. This is costing him not just money, but is why he is under many of the criminal indictments.

Maybe you don't see it because you are a Trump worshipper that believes whatever that lying asshole tells you. Rest asured the fucker would not have been found guilty and fined nearly 400 million if he were innocent, that's all anyone can tell an ignorant shithead like you who refuses to believe.

I didn't say he was not guilty. I said there appears to be nothing in the ruling assessing money for tax infractions. I asked for that reference.

All the fines are for profits illegally gained on specific properties due to the fraud of providing false documents to banks and insurance companies.

There is one America...which is why I don't support a justice system that is so obviously rotten to the core...It's not about support for Donald Trump... but it certainly does seem to be about hate for him... and most things conservative... I'm not even sure America has anything that can be properly labeled a court of law anymore...

It's only "rotten" when your #TangerineTyrant gets found guilty/liable/responsible. It's only rotten when your nasty crawling MAGATs in DC can't find anything credible to hang on President Biden.

It's great OTOH when you can use it to go after a political rival's family in an effort to discredit that rival for allegedly being "a poor parent" because his kid had drinking/drug issues. I'm glad you're not that sort of parent, aren't you? :rofl2:

I'm kind of chuckling at my ape... now if I referred to anyone by that rather Middle School ish term I'd get pounded...lol (and in this case I won't take it
personally...)

That's too bad. A good pounding might help with your bitterness and rage. Maybe H10 can help?

Trump committed a crime of degree and excess. It is true most people fudge in their taxes and most corporations do routinely. But Trump was tripling the size of buildings when used as collateral and reversing floor space when paying taxes. If you made claims of that level, you would get nailed too. Trump has been doing it for decades. Banks that relied on Trump's info were at risk. They were lending him money based on lies.

We were one country... how about that? I remember when we were... It was a much Kinder and gentler time....America has been a work of progress for quite some time but we were going in the right direction... The past three years have erased Decades of that progress... I see it every single day...

Yes.

That is why prior republi'cans' refused to go with any version of the 'Southern Strategy' as they could see it was a 'win at all costs or break the country strategy'.

You can even see how that strategy is dividing and destroying its own party in the House and Senate, as it is a no compromise strategy that says 'we get our way 100% or the world burns' gambit. it is devised to force the other side to blink, as they, the Magats, are actually ok with America failing.

This will be overturned on appeal.

The judge prejudged the case.

OMFG. You guys are complete idiots.
When did the judge prejudge the case.
There were 2 trials.
The first one was to determine if fraud occurred. It was found that fraud did occur.
The second trial was to determine any penalty for the fraud.

In the first trial, even Trump admitted the statements were not true. If something isn't true then it must be false. If a statement is required to be true but is false and the person making the statement knows it is false then it meets the definition of fraud. It would be impossible for anyone to claim there was no fraud based on those facts.

You don't seem to be able to tell fact from fiction or truth from lies.
