Biden bails on Super Bowl interview for second year in a row



President Biden has declined doing a pre-game Super Bowl interview with CBS, making the second year in a row he has dodged the traditional big game news sit-down.

Biden’s decision to skip what is typically the highest rated television broadcast of the year is puzzling as it’s an easy opportunity to speak directly to millions of voters in a tight election year.

The president, 81, participated in the interview during his first two years in office when the Super Bowl was broadcast on NBC and CBS — but ducked out last year when Fox News aired the big game.

CBS will broadcast this year’s Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers championship matchup on Feb. 11.

“We hope viewers enjoy watching what they tuned in for — the game,” White House spokesperson Ben LaBolt told Variety, who first reported on Biden’s Super Bowl absence....

So Biden is too afraid to speak without a teleprompter. I don't blame him. Biden would probably tell everyone he was a professional football player.
 
Why can't he use a teleprompter? Trump uses one.
Trump refused the interview in 2018. I am sure you think that was OK. Trump also stopped the yearly presidential pressers and ended the yearly press dinner when he was in office.

and everything similar to that,

this including pretending to give a shit about a game between a West Coast team
and a Middle America team
when you're blessed by fate to be an East Coast person,

as appropriate duties for POTUS.

I'd like a president who ignores all of that nonsense
and instead does his duty
ordering the purge of all trumpanzees.

But you think Trump is a good speaker. You show us how well you know the facts. Biden speaks as an adult using an adult vocabulary. Trump is a blundering teenager in a fat man's suit who insults and blusters with a 5th-grade speaking level.

There were near daily Coronavirus briefings with the President during most of that 400 days... preceding Coronavirus this was the same time that Trump was trying to pull Jim Acosta's press credential. There was that woman running around with the mic and he took the mic from her, then they published self-congratulatory crap about how it was because of the "challenging questions"...

The quote at the time from the WH (Sanders was Press at that time, but Trump was doing the pressers directly pretty much all the time getting in epically and mostly childish battles with reporters) was:

“President Trump believes in a free press and expects and welcomes tough questions of him and his Administration,” she said. “We will, however, never tolerate a reporter placing his hands on a young woman just trying to do her job as a White House intern. This conduct is absolutely unacceptable.”

Anyway, according to the numbers: Trump averaged 178 exchanges with the Press each year, while Obama averaged around 25 total interactions with the press. Biden shows up pretty well in the charts as he sends out his press secretary more often than most and it helps that it counts a president shouting "my what was what?" at a camera as an "interaction".

Trump, however, beats every one of them out in his average of press interactions. Pretending that he was somehow hiding is just lying.

The highest number of interactions is none other than the Orange Man himself.

I would say this is the first time I have seen a President in an election year turn down a positive interaction with reporters like this would be. This is one of the times when being President actually helps your campaign. Much like having a ride like Air Force One does.

I don't think you'd often see a president reject this one during an election year. That's unique and why this is a story.
