Thousands of americans killed every year by speeders and liberals say i don't care. They only care about the few dozen americans killed by assault rifles. We should also lower speed limits to say 50 mph. Lowering it to 55 immediately saved 9,000 lives a year starting in 1974. This is one of the few areas where govt should be involved. Their primary job is to protect people from injury by others.

Nov 22 2023 The proposal from the NTSB is to install "intelligent speed assistance" tech in all cars, a system that uses a car's GPS location and local speed limit postings "to help ensure safe and legal speeds."

What the NTSB wants is to require systems that "warn" when a driver is speeding, as well as systems that "make it more difficult, but not impossible, to increase the speed of a vehicle" as well as electronic limits on vehicles so they "fully prevent drivers from exceeding the speed limit."

The NTSB said the recommendation came out of the investigation of an accident in North Las Vegas. There, a man under the influence of drugs drove his 2018 Dodge Challenger at about 103 mph through a red light into an intersection, hitting five other vehicles.

Seven people in a minivan that he hit died, as the driver, who had cocaine and PCP in his system and a history of speeding offenses, and a passenger also died.

A report at The Federalist said, "While legal speed limits are capped at 85 mph in the U.S., vehicles are designed to go far faster to allow safe passing and escape in emergency situations. The capacity to go faster also puts less strain on vehicles at lower speeds."

We will be tracked constantly in the new world order, if we do something the Regime does not approve of we will be hurt. I have read that the system will be set with an absolute speed limiter set at 100mph, though you can be sure over time that will be set lower even though this will make passing on two lane roads more dangerous. Maybe at some point our overlords simply make passing illegal.
 
The plan is for all cars to be GPS tracked, to drive without it will be illegal, which will be used for tolls. Going forwards the Overlords will limit your driving by social credit score, will either forbid or charge you more to do things they dont want you to do, and will adjust your social credit score based upon how and where you drive.

The freedom of the open road must be eliminated.

Why should you be allowed to speed and endanger others.? Might as well say murder and robbing banks are "rights."
 
Republicans do not have enough real things to get upset, so they are upset someone is even studying something.

I dont want switches anywhere. I just think going all libertarian on traffic laws is hilarious.

posted speed limits are sufficient.

we don't need in vehicle monitoring that slows the car down.

we don't want every stupid individual who doesn't see wisdom in safety to make it to breeding age.

there must be room to fail.
 
The problem is drowsy drivers and head on collisions.

A very tiny percentage of traffic fatalities are 100mph crashes.

And criminals would defeat the limiters.

I'm still waiting for the self driving car to be perfected.

TDAK is a socialist authoritarian who likes using his car as a weapon. Driving 55mph in the fast lane, forcing cars to pass on the right. A wannabe cop. :palm:

As long as they don't set the speed limiters below 150 mph, it might be a tolerable idea.

Still don't see the need, though.
