Cheated on his wife, sexually assaulted women, paid hush money to a porn star, embraced narcissism and atheism with gusto, ran a fake charity, indicted in 91 felonies.


You have had multiple opportunities to support other Republican candidates with similar policies to Trump, but superior character and morals. But you chose to spend seven years on an obscure message board running cover for Trump, like he is your boyfriend who needs you to leap to his defense

I don’t doubt your sincerity but here’s why I roll my eyes at statements like this (in general, not directed at you personally).

I’ve heard people say they would never vote for/support a bigot. When asked if they voted for Obama in ‘08 after he declared he was against gay marriage the response would be along the lines of “well, that was different…”

The best analogy I can think of is as a parent and your kid really fvxks up. You may be pissed but because it’s your kid you still love them. Yet if another kid did the exact same thing there’s no chance you would offer the same empathy.

That’s partisan politics to a T. It’s easy to be principled when talking about a politician, or political party, you don’t like. But for most people their actions don’t match their rhetoric when it comes to the lit own party, or politician, they support.

I get what you're saying, and agree w/ your basic point - but it's not appropriate to this story.

Trump has created his own category. He made fun of a guy who got attacked w/ a hammer; he made fun of a disabled guy; he insulted Prisoners of War. The list goes on. These aren't "normal" politician things.

The point of this thread is that Trump supporters - many of whom previously claimed a bit of moral superiority over the left, and for whom morality and principled behavior was a high priority - have compromised all of that. All of it. Just to support this guy.
