Americans Are Losing Faith in the Value of College. Whose Fault Is That?

Americans Are Losing Faith in the Value of College. Whose Fault Is That?

I think the bigger picture is- Americans are losing Faith in Republicans!

Because, it is clear and concise, the college educated has now shifted over to voting Democratic.

And that is a huge voting bloc and obstacle now for the Republicans to hurdle- AND WHO CAUSED THAT?

The Republicans of course!

They can't get out of their own way!

It's called political suicide!

As the Republicans continue to find hateful ways to divide us, their base keeps getting smaller and smaller!

Hey, I'm just here to tell it like it is- TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT!

Universities and colleges are run by DEMOCRATS, ya dumb lizard.

It seemed to me back in the 80's when the GOP was resurgent with the "New Morning in America" and the rise of the Religious Right that the push for GOP candidates became to appear as "down home and folksy" and showing a lack of "sophistication" in order to get votes from that particular demographic that values that. And later it morphed into an overall feigned hatred of "east coast elites" when in fact most of those Republican politicians were the product of elite institutions on the East coast (take Ted Cruz as a prime example).

Ultimately this emboldened a streak in America that finally wound up denigrating education as something a real American would eschew.

But I honestly don't think it's all as simple as pointing political fingers at each other. I think our nation's understanding of how education is NOT A PROFIT GENERATING INDUSTRY has messed us up moreso. Our overall, politically agnostic, lust for MORE MONEY has driven everything we touch to the lowest common denominator intended on fleecing SOMEONE of their money.

The ONLY thing America TRULY believes in, at the end of the day, is the almighty dolla.

And therein lies our failure as a nation.

So you think profit is 'evil'. Gotit.

If you do not have a degree, in many jobs or professions the doors are closed to you.
Some people would go nuts working in an office. They need to find other ways of making a living that are suitable for their temperaments.

Almost no door is closed to you. If you have the initiative and drive, you can start any business you want.

If you had bothered to get one it probably would have been worthless given your inability to learn, but for most people it isn't worthless.

Besides, you probably didn't need one to be an electrician, didja?

Not an electrician. You are obviously confused with someone else.

Why do you hate electricians?

It is ironic that BP constantly excoriates everyone for being a troll and even on their own thread they don't really provide anything but trolling. It's positively surreal.

When it comes down to it, that's all the Left has for rebuttal. Their ideas and positions are so indefensible that they have to resort to changing the subject, ad hominem, and / or insults almost immediately when challenged on them.

Well, I am an electrician, and I can tell Cupressus that the two BS degrees I have, and the MA have made me far less money than doing electrical work. I always find work as an electrician, and make a shitload of money doing it. Try doing that with a PhD in philosophy or art history, or an equivalent fine arts degree in playing the bassoon.

Sure, the two undergrad degrees help some with that. I got tools and methods out of them that help planning big jobs and doing the business aspects of electrical contracting. The math and science helped some too in that I understand the systems I work on better and can find the frequent mistakes engineers make on drawings in a snap and fix those issues on the fly rather than having to wait for them to do it.

Plumbers say the same thing. They make excellent money as well. Seems people will pay a lot for someone to come and unstop your toilet. I hear this kind of thing from masons, framers, roofers, etc.

Cupressus is just an ingrate.

A prestigious neurosurgeon calls a plumber to tend to his leaky faucet.

The problem requires an easy fix, and the entire job takes less than two minutes. Finished, the plumber hands the neurosurgeon the bill, “That will be $400.”

The surgeon's mouth drops open as he stares at the plumber, “I'll be candid with you. I am a neurosurgeon and even I don't charge $200 a minute.”

The plumber says, “Yeah, I know. Before I switched to plumbing, I was a neurosurgeon too."

I DON"T hate electricians. In fact my dad was a trained electrician and one of the smartest human beings I've ever met. I don't like YOU, and the reason I point out your role as electrician is because that seems to literally be the ONLY THING YOU KNOW ABOUT. Every other thing you post on this forum that ISN'T related to electricity or electronics is fractally wrong.
